What a wonderful sense of freedom you must feel Drc, It looks quiet, are there any Skylarks? they should arrive soon. Can't say I have a favourite pic but I do like that post n' rail fencing. Does anyone know that it's called?

Thanks everyone. Heron I always thought it was called Chestnut fencing? I love it, as it lasts for ever, does the job while looking good and of course its see through. Its very popular around here for sitting on while being photographed!

Thanks Hywell, I'll check it out, You've probably heard of Cholmondeley Castle, well most of their fencing is still done in that old way. No sawn timber, split post n' rail and each of the uprights (called palistrades or something) are fixed with wooden pegs, It all looks very pleasing to the eye and makes a sturdy long-lasting fence. I love all wood and it I had my time over again, I'd study it and work with it. To go off topic slightly, did you see Monty Don's programme where people were shown how to make traditional wooden chairs, no screws or glue. It's a fascinating series.

Lovely photos, Denise - I'm glad you stayed dry there! We had rain, rain and more rain. Still - it's sunny today, so the garden probably enjoyed it. Can't say I did though! :-((
