Today I was looking for a right turnoff and aware that I was being tailgated by a van and when a dear little wild bunny ran in front of me I could not avoid it I didnt think I had run over it but I could see in the mirror it was dead. I do hate tailgaters!

Aw you sound sad about it Denise...it is a horrid feeling I know when you hit a bunny...they always run the wrong way...i didn't mean to be flippant.xx

This would have upset me greatly too Denise, especially if you feel it wouldn't have happened if that idiot hadn't been there. Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid drivers like that. Poor bunny....

Sorry to hear about the Bunny. I was not your fault but it still makes you feel bad inside

Last week a car was very close to me so I slowed down a bit and then touched the break to frighten him. He blared his horn and didn't back off.

When I stopped at the post office he stopped aswell and ran to my car shouting and swearing and waving his fists. He kept saying I could have caused an accident. But it would have been HE who caused the accident if there was one. It would have been HIS fault for not allowing himself enough room to pull up.

Anyway I didn't say anything to him. I just took his number, and for his stupidity, his bad driving and his bad temper I reported him to the police. They've had a word with him about it.

I always slow down a lot if I have someone close to me. - well if they don't like it it's their own fault for being such idiots !!

Oh Denise, how awful! Roads, and those who use them, are death to bunnies, hedgehogs, birds, cats....and occasionally humans! I'm phobic about driving ( which is why I don't, ever ) and one of the reasons is that I'm sure I'd go to pieces if I hit something.
However....nature doesn't like waste, so poor bunny will have made a fine dinner for the crows, who will have had no sentiment or sorrow in their souls, but just spied an excellent opportunity to feed.
When my beloved under-gardener ( Pip the cat ) brings in dead mice or voles ( or, it must be said, baby bunnies ) and leaves them lying around, uneaten, I 'recycle' them onto the shed roof for the crows/rooks, so their lives have not gone totally unremarked. Makes me feel ( marginally ) better!

Mookins in my first year of driving I was hit by a tailgater it took the police 3 weeks to find him at home! by that time he had had his car repaired and my insurance took 6 months to tell me that they had no evidence - So it cost me.

I have long believed 'as you reap so you sew' Mookins. A friend who works in London found a £20 note in a cash machine which she kept. A week or so later she took out £150 and promptly lost it or had it stolen.

oh no!!

no more news like that
too much for so early

your poor friend

Of course you are right Bscott about the food chain and benefit to other creatures but it would upset me even more to see the poor animal's body being torn to shreds. It's out with the spade and a decent burial in my garden....... Come to think of it.....I suppose that's feeding the insects instead, so again - nothing wasted. :o)

Good for you Hywel but it seems nothing gets through to these lunatics. It's one of the reasons I hate driving. If I have someone like that behind me, I pull over if I can and let them past. Better in front than behind hassling and distracting me and potentially making me drive badly or even dangerously myself.

I know, Lily...it's hard to know when and where to draw the line. I've buried bunnies in the garden before, but if I buried every animal killed and left by my well-fed but keen mog I'd have no garden left to bury said cats in once they've 'gone'!....oh dear, it's a very hard one.

I was waiting on the roadside for the bus to work this morning, and as I got on it and tendered my fare, a car came bowling up onto the petrol station forecourt ( where the bus stops ) and 'undertook' ( if that's the right word! ) the bus, pulling out from the left in front, just as another car OVERTOOK the bus on the right.....a very near miss indeed, and completely illegal on the part of the idiot in the first car.....then, having nearly hit each other, the car who had overtaken the bus overtook the car that had 'undertaken' the bus! Unbelievable!

Only a few months ago a schoolkid was hit and killed just up the road from us, when she crossed the road to her home, behind the school bus and was hit by a car overtaking said bus. There are shrines along the length of this road, marking many, many fatalities...and do people take note? Do they he@@. Strikes me that flowers are cheap, and so is life. Dreadful.
