On the pull for five years

On the pull for five years and at I last I might just have won: About 7 years ago I planted Houttuynai cordata chemeleon in a large tub. I knew it was a spreader but in a pot? Its had lovely green/red foliage with white flowers during the summers. But it roots went through the pot and down between the paving slabs till it found some garden then in a couple of summers it swamped every thing in that bed. So I dug it all out several times and each summer since having been pulling out new shoots its taken 5 years to get rid of it! I have had no shoots this year except in the pot which is lovely (make sure the pot stays in the middle of a slab).

Mine is in a pot, stood on bricks in the side of the pond. It hasn't escaped yet...

Oh so sorry, give them to someone who's annoyed you! didnt mean that perhaps your mother in law would like them?

Ha ha that made me laugh Andrearichter! You sound like Owen from Vicar of Dibley!! Good luck with your damage limitation.

I've never been able to grow it. Every time I've planted it, it has died off by the following year. In the ground or in a pot - no success :o(

Yes I know. It has a horrible smell too so I'm not going to try it again.
