Like Hywel I too get dirty in the garden yet I’m sqeemish in the house!
I can watch some spiders on a bush and think how lovely they look, delve into muck pick up worms when I’m digging to move them, and then came indoors and scream because there’s a spider in the bath.
My husband has to rescue them for me, he laughs and say its alway the same spider coming back through the window. August is the month for spiders and I once read how many we ate in our life time while we are asleep. I cannot remember how many it was and do not want to, I kid my self that I’ve had my quota. I wish I had’nt written this blog now ugh.

No snoring for you from now on Lily !! haha

If its only 4 thats only one every 20 years if I live to be 80? So be my reckoning I've had my quota if I die before I'm 80.
Perhaps it's an urban myth and we are all sqeemish for nothing?

I think this pretty much proves it is an urban internet myth... http://www.guardian.co.uk/notesandqueries/query/0,5753,-23997,00.html

Me Sue? I NEVER snore! lol

29 Aug, 2009

I have never swallowed a spider in my sleep, therefore I do not snore. Thank you, Sue.

Tut tut B telling porkies again :-)

I'll make sure my window is closed tonight & that there aren't any spiders in my bedroom either! Lol! :-D

Actually they don't bother me any more & I've slept many nights with spiders in my bedroom & I've woken up the next morning to find the majority were still in the same place as when I turned the light off to go to sleep.

Today I killed about 4 spiders so I'd better be extra careful tonight & make sure there relatives don't come around to take revenge on me! :-D

We normally have spiders wandering around the house - I just leave them free to roam.
My mother had a serious spider phobia and would freak on seeing the tiniest one. I worked on the fear I had taken on board from her an no spider fear now - which is just as well, they are garden goodies!

29 Aug, 2009

Yes, as long as they stay in the garden!

'If you wish to live and thrive let the spider run alive'

29 Aug, 2009

That must have been written by a spider!

ha ha ha

Look at the good work spiders do... think of all those flies and other bugs hey catch and eat :-)

Balcony !! If you kill a spider it rains !! If the weather's bad on Bank Holiday Monday we'll know who to blame !! lol

30 Aug, 2009

Spiders are alright. They do a great job eating all the nasties....inside or outside. So long as the black widows stay outside, I'm fine with them.

30 Aug, 2009

Little fear of that in this corner of the UK, Sue. Here in East Anglia we are forecast a couple of very nice days over the Bank Holiday! :)

30 Aug, 2009

Dont buy any bananas then!

30 Aug, 2009

Lucky you Balcony. Here in the West Mids they've forecast rain, rain and more rain !

30 Aug, 2009

Drc, why do you say "Don't buy any bananas then!"? Is it for the spiders that are supposed to live in them? I've never seen or heard of them but I have read about them. Still little possibility of them here as the bananas come loose from the supermarket & have been handled so many times that any spiders would have run away a long time ago! Phew!

Balcony it was just a bit of gun after Guilli talked about black widows.

30 Aug, 2009

Oh, OK!

30 Aug, 2009

I'm not bothered by creepy crawlies. It's birds I have a phobia of. However they don't come into the house so it's all right ( unless Blodyn catches one )

31 Aug, 2009

Are you superstitious Hywel ? (Birds in the house)

31 Aug, 2009

No I'm not superstitious. I just don't like birds at all wherever they are. I have a phobia of them.

31 Aug, 2009

Must be awful if Blodyn brings you a 'live' pressy !!!

31 Aug, 2009

Yes lol. I have to ask a neighbour to come to my rescue lol

31 Aug, 2009

Even worse when they're still half alive.

31 Aug, 2009

Drc726, Black widows are residents here. You have to watch out when your cleaning out your shed or garage. They are pretty shy and like nice dark corners.

Gilli thats why I never emigrated! - Having to bang the lou seat before use in Australia put me off what if you forget?

31 Aug, 2009

Well, I don't think I'd fancy a crocodile coming up the loo and biting my nether regions either..... :oD

1 Sep, 2009

LOL. There's definitely something to be said for living in this country, rain and all!!!

1 Sep, 2009

What rain lily2?

1 Sep, 2009

Well not here either, ground dry as a bone but allegedly it's everywhere else. Just had a very very short shower, just enough to join up the spots on the patio!

1 Sep, 2009

Yes thats all we had.

1 Sep, 2009

September has started with a bang! Just after 5pm this evening we had a thunderstorm, the first since July. I took a some videos from the balcony with my mobile phone. This is the first time I've done this. I've taken many videos with this new phone, which I've had since March this year, but mainly of my granddaughter. It isn't easy to see the rain in the videos but a couple of thunder claps could be heard, even from inside the house with doors & windows closed. The sound of the wind & rain can also be heard, as can the cars passing by!

We had one lightening bolt that lit up the room & my wife saw it even though she had her back to the window. So did I even though I was sitting here at the computer & the balcony is to my right side.

About 18.30 it was raining quite hard but the sun came out & I saw a lovely rainbow. :)
