King John's Garden

My morning was spent walking around King John’s Garden near Etchingham in East Sussex. Legend has it that King John II, who became King of France in 1350, was held hostage in this house for some years. King John’s Lodge is a listed Jacobean house surrounded by a 5 acre garden. Delightful visit I love the wild flower garden and the meadow. There are a number of water features including a lily pond and fountain in the formal garden, a wild pond and a secret pond in the woodland area. This secret pond is a meandering pleasure from the gentle waterfall at one end to the hidden dell at the other.
I include the chickens because as i walked past them one sneezed I suppose they get Hayfever too!

Oh this is lovely, the sort of garden I would have if the lottery came up! I shall put this on my list of places to visit. Its not that far from Kiplings house too, which is similiar in style. Thanks for sharing

Yes its very near Kiplings house/graden which is as you say similar. The owners were having morning coffee on the terrace it looked idyllic. It is actually a Bed and Breakfast too.

Yes Hywel it is, the small shop is an eclectic mixture too, lots of old things to leave around the garden and unusual plants. Things they wouldnt sell in garden centres.
