One thing about getting home from work at 3.45 after I have made sure my animals are all locked up and warm for the night I can relax in front of this

Now I can see what you are thinking (Why has Donna got a blue fire place) Yes I hate it to The people who lived in this house before us had a funny sense of humour no dout we will get around to taking it out one day. As we both work full time it seems have slipped the net. The garden has always taken priorty) As GOYERS do.But I wont be sitting in front of it to long as I do my spring cleaning in the Autumn as I am to bisy in the summer time. I might have to cook a meal as well. YAWN. Never mind could lead to a bit of ROMANCE ???? Still roll on the summer time Do any of you ladies fancy helping me to clean the brass?

I love cleaning brass mind you i haven't done it for a while. I used to find it very theraputic. That fire looks so inviting is it real?

The only brass I clean is the letter box so no help from me. Lovely blaze though

I like cleaning brass too, but not so sure now. After retirement we had an Antiques and bric-a-brac shop for some years, and I used to be cleaning brass and copper day in and day out almost, but always enjoyed it. This included huge old coppers taken out of brick-built boilers. They were popular for storing logs.
I don't think I'll volunteer just now Donnah. I would like to get at those tiles with paint stripper though! The fire looks lovely and inviting especially hearing the wind and rain lashing outside just now.
I'm just trying to connect cooking a meal with ROMANCE though. Maybe I'm too old.

you could always paint the tiles donnah. Bt i agree why do housework when you can garden and when you can toast your toes in front of the fire.

One of the best things about winter is coming in from the cold to an open fire and snuggling up

Perhaps the fireplace is a bit too blue, but the fire looks very welcoming.

Why worry about the colour of a fire when you can have romance? You don't know how lucky you are.

Love a real fire something so cosy and snug about it, especially when the wind is howling outsideI really miss leaving a 1750 cottage for a 1970s bungalow, as for the brass we still have lots but thank goodness my husband cleans that every wek, I can't stand the smell of Dura Glit!

I'll help you to clean the brass :o) I enjoy doing it. I have lots of brass things from my grandmother's house. I always cleaned it for my mother and now I have it myself.
I'm not keen on the colour of your grate either lol. But the real fire looks cosy. It brings back lots of memories too.
