Sprithenry sent me some lovely seeds. Today I have planted them in trays in the greenhouse.

This is my compost tray just outside the green house. First of all I sieve the compost so it is very fine.

Then all the lumpy bumpy bits get put into this tray Which I use for some thing else later

Next I give the trays a good watering

And this is the finished result. Now I just wait to see what pops up
This is my new radio in the greenhouse. Only cost £5.00 from yarmouth market
The seeds Sprithenry has sent me are Verbena hostata (white) Eupatorium.Geraium Pink Penny Geranium Buxtons Variety. Looking forward to seeing them next year.

Oh, and don't forget the 'mystery plant', Donna! I really have no idea what it was - but you've got the seeds, and it'll be interesting! :-))

I'm jealous Donna, I want a compost tray like yours. Great blog. :~))

The tray is a real bonus. It makes filling up compost trays much easyer. All the mess stays in the tray

Mine goes all over the place, on the floor, all over the grass and if Holly helps then it can also get in my ears, up my nose ................. Lol :~))

I've got a useful one, as well - I think the GC called it a 'potting tray'. The back is higher than the front, which is really just a 'lip', and it has finger holes on each side so it can be used for carrying the compost or plants very easily. I think I'll have to post a photo of it...I wouldn't want to be without it, and it wasn't expensive...although I've had it a couple of years now.

What a bargain for a fiver!!! I've got a very similar radio/cd in my potting shed which I listen to when sowing seed etc. Mine didn't cost me anything though. A Xmas/birthday pressie from Lloyd(my youngest ) a few years ago! Hope your seeds grow well. I sowed some that Morgana sent me a few weeks ago but they haven't germinated. Fortunately I kept some(just in case) so I'll sow them in the spring!

What are they. Paul? My brand-new propagating book might tell you what temp. they need and when's the best time to plant them. It's got that sort of info. in it!

Aquilega and Delphiniums Spritz. I've never had a problem with either before. I did put them in the fridge for a week or so(to simulate the winter) but perhaps it wasn't long enough. They are in a heated propogator (not one with a thermostat so not sure of temperature. Prob about 65/70 F). It may have got hotter some days though, in the potting shed as we had a very sunny, hot September!

Odd - I think you've done it as per the book! Mind you, out of a packet of (green) Aquilegia, I have exactly TWO babies! What a pain. :-((

Yes, it's not an exact science I suppose. There are lots of things that can have an effect! Still, I'll try again in the spring. Angie( Majikahead? , I think that's her GOY name) sent me some Evening Primrose seeds a couple months ago and they're doing great! Already planted some in the garden. Kept the rest in the cold frame to plant in Spring(just in case winter weather kills off others). So you win some you lose some, I suppose!
