Across the Atlantic where I am we have been getting rollercoaster like weather cycles with temps to 70 F one day then down to 13F a few days later then back up again. Calm one day then 50 mph wind gusts the next. Not unusual though in the mid Atlantic region of coastal USA. Sadly though the low temps burnt out the first crocus and daffodil blooms but there are more to come. A bit of snow in this weekend forecast. The garden centers are starting their new seasons so I will be visiting them this weekend and I plan on cutting back a rose bush a bit. One terribly troublesome thing though, the trees in my area are literally
falling apart with branches breaking off everywhere on almost every tree. I noticed holes in branches and trunks with sap dripping out of them and staining the sidewalks last summer and then one evening clinging to the screen on a door of my home was a Asian Longhorned Beetle. Within a few weeks I will have to remove a tree absolutely destroyed by this pest. There is no cure for this problem and the damage to the trees in this area will be devastating it seems. This beetle was transported to the USA in wooden pallets from Asia. This is really bad.
