Been Away Too Long

Hello everyone, hope you are all well. It’s been such a busy Summer but what a good one! Things are slowing down in the garden now so I hope to spend more time on here enjoying your great pictures and blogs. My garden is past its best but I’ve done a general blog, to re-introduce myself, well a kind of walk around my garden :-)

We had new drive gates a few weeks ago, thanks to my husband’s hard work :-)

The fruit has done so well thanks to the good weather, even the Passion Flower is fruiting.

Here are a few pictures of the gardens closest to the house.

Thanks to the good Summer, we’ve also made use of the pool :-)

The woodland area now begins.

Willow Arch.

Then we have the pond.

That’s it for now, I must do a blog on how I’m getting on with the new piece of garden, it’s slowly establishing.

Bye for now, Dawn

Hi Dawn. I was just checking out who grows teasels, as I have one I want to plant and was looking for a bit of advice. That's what brought me to your blog and to this wonderful garden. I agree with various others that it does look more like a country estate than a garden! It's stunning. You have a lake. I'm still waiting for the water feature I was promised for my 40th birthday; on Monday I will be 57. OH is likely to say, 'Well you've waited this long, may as well save it for your 60th now'. Whereupon, I will of course, feel impelled to marmelise him!
If I had your garden, nobody would ever see me. I'd go out at dawn and disappear until dusk, taking with me, alongside the gardening tools, a good book, some writing and drawing/painting materials and perhaps a little picnic lunch, put up in a red and white spotted handkerchief tied to a stick. As for where I'd picnic, I'd be spoilt for choice with lake and woodland and stream, to say nothing of baby owls. You have your own little Eden; what more can I say!

Hello Tues, your comment is very warming, lovely, thank you. I know home is mine but you've put what I feel into words.

I grew teasels a few years back to supply food for the gold finches. Now I have heavy clay here and they are fine. I grew them in seed trays, potted on and then set them out. They do seed around readily so be careful where you plant them, I think they will grow pretty much anywhere.

I saw a baby owl this morning, just posted a pic.

Hope you get your water feature very soon.

Thanks again.
