Troublesome tree

Hallo, I have a tree on my allotment plot;a rather intrusive fellow : a fully mature Douglas Fir ,I’d have included a picture but my wide-angle lense won’t encompass him.I’m in a quandary as to what to do with him: should I (a) chop him down (I have an axe) (b) make a feature of it-perhaps build a tree house in it-or maybe a tool shed? © Just learn to live with him.
I await all sensible suggestions.

Are there any relevant allotment regulations ?

leave it be: if it is mature it has earned its place on the planet. It will provide welcome shade in the heat of summer.

Davros, it sounds huge if you are unable to photograph it.

I agree fully with Steragram, you have to be careful of the allotment regulations, which I am sure, the secretary of the allotments would advise. The other key factor is how much of your allotment does it infringe on? Presumably it takes a lot of goodness out of the soil, and shades (cools) the soil, where you are trying to grow your vegetables/fruit. Also removing this, may have a positive benefit (or negative) effect, on the adjoining allotments/owners. What are their thoughts? Does it provide shelter for anyones greenhouse or shed maybe, in high winds? Or maybe they aren't happy with it either. Are you a corner or outside plot maybe. A couple of photos may help other GOYers to offer more helpful advice. SBG makes an important point also, if you can live with it and you get from your allotment, all that you need, why not try and live in harmony with it. BUT also remember IT WILL GROW BIGGER. Hope this helps.

Davros ... sorry doesn't count ... has to be before midday.

"Nice one" .... be very wary though, of any advice coming your way, especially from Snoopdog, Seaburngirl or Steragram!

As I said to you in my PM to you, "No wonder there was no flippin' photo" 👍

Sorry snoopdog- don't know what came over me.

I had a laugh when I first saw it.
Our local paper put a huge report on the Mercury facebook page claiming Rutland was built on a volcano and that was the reason we'd had the earthquakes in recent years, not to worry though as they were being monitored, also wanted people to report if they saw any steam rising from the ground as they wanted to attract more tourists and there were plans afoot to build spa's and geyser resorts.....It was very well written and imformative, lol....

Does anybody remember the BBC programme on spaghetti farming ? AlanB - this fooled me properly! I like a laugh but wouldn't give silly advice unless I was sure it would be recognised as such!!

Davros just you wait, we will get our own back sometime...

well I clicked off GoY at 11.55 as OH made an early lunch and I didn't seen it then, But the advice is sound should you ever get such a problem.

My feeling now Davros, on reflection.. at 12:01 pm, on the 1st, you should have declared it. It took me an hour to write my thesis and come up with my suggestions. My advice now would be, having given it a lot more thought ..... to lift the Douglas Fir and put it somewhere the sun doesn't shine ... That way your plot would get full sunlight .....lol. 😎

If he had declared it at midday we would mostly have missed it though. But if Davros takes this second lot of advice i would appreciate a photo...
