Space is tight in my boxes, so that purple sage is coming out tom.
I bought 2 new reg sage to go in instead!
By Thanksgiving they should be big enough to make Sage and Onion Stuffing. YUM!!

any way you slice 'em, any way you cook 'em, they are one of the most nourishing veg's in cultivation... mmmmm... carbs. I love shepherd's pie, one of my fav ways to eat 'taties'.

You are not the only bargain maven, David. I got a whole flat of these lovelies for half price...and promptly cut the tops off and rooted them, and planted the base roots sooo...I doubled the yield and halved the price!! cool?

Wow! it's very large too... awww too bad about the scent...I have a double explorer rose (I think it's David Thompson) that smells divine but the petals are so soft that they obscure and retard the later blossoms in the cluster..I'm constantly deadheading... but the smell is worth it...I've started saving the petals.

Very smart, David. I bought some called "Fragoo" and they will live happily in a pot too.

My mom used to drag me up to the "Huckleberry Rocks" to pick the wild berries in late June, early July, and my dad teasingly called her the mama bear...because the bears used to bring their cubs to feed on the berries too!! One for the cup...two for my mouth...mmmm. sometimes after over feeding on blueberries we were prone to the malady my gran called "the blueberry quickstep".

Oh! that papyrus is just amazing.. how I wish I could grow that in my pond... perhaps I could but I'd have to overwinter it inside...wonder if it would survive the lack of good light. hmmm... great pic..oh to have a glasshouse to play in, aye David?

"The King sits in Dunfermline towne, Drinking his blude rid wine..."
I can't remember the next stanza...old age is creeping up. Amen to the dream garden, David. Then no worries about the constant wind blowing the poor veggie bairns out of the ground!" ( err...flower bairns?! lol.)

David,
Do you find the purple sage has less flavor?
Last year I grew reg sage and it tasted great but was leggy with few leaves so this year I decided to try the purple. It has grown great with lots of leaves but just doesn't seem to have much taste or smell.
I can't figure out what the problem could be.

Wonder if there is any difference in the flavour compared with the more common ones?

Italians use sage leaves for a very quick and tasty pasta sauce. You simply heat sage leaves in butter to that point just before the butter turns brown, pour over cooked pasta and generously sprinkle with parmesan cheese.....

Not Snowcap. That's not such a full flower. Also it's upright and this is trailing. This is Swingtime : )

Is this one in a pot? Would you be planting it in the ground too? It's stunning and would make a huge statement in the groud.
