Tornado!
Posted on 8 Feb, 2008 2 comments
I was deeply humbled, today, to read about the lethal tornados which swept across 5 States of the US recently, killing 55 people. While I am sitting here comfortably researching “Tornado” named plants for our Wizard of Oz garden, real lethal winds are out there causing mass destruction and death. I am both amazed and horrified by what I’ve read today. What about the poor wee boy who was found in a field, having been sucked up and carried off with his mother – who did not survive? And the family who jumped into their bathtub and can describe it flying through the air? And I moan about the frost, snow and biting cold wind? Tonight, my thoughts are with all those who suffered loss in any way.

The tornados you speak of David were truly horrible.
I consider myself very fortunate to be living in the North East of the USA. Occasinally we have a hurricane that reaches us but the dammage is minimal as I am about 150 miles from the coast. There have been tornados that hit close by in Connecticut but the last one was at least fifteen years ago. A lot of these tornads seem to strike in the middle of the night. There is no warning and I don't know how people who live in these areas where tornados are common are comfortable going to bed at night to sleep. You just reminded me that I shouldn't complain about the ten inches of snow that we got today. Mike C

There were some incredible survival stories to come out of this situation David.
Mother Nature is definitely in charge on this rock we call home much as we humans like to think we are.
