Messy area tidy up!

Since moving into this house and deciding we are now going to stay here, we have decided to make a wildlife area with native plants beneath the cherry tree! For starters this Sunday I went to Dobbies and bought a pond for £20 and dug out the old pebble pool and put in the new wildlife pond! The messy area behind the pond will also become wildlife area with ferns and hostas!!

The final picture is of the pond this morning after the wind decided to fill it in with cherry tree blossom

Just when you think you have it all tamed Nature has a way of proving she's in charge! All those petals, will you leave them or scoop them out? I also have a little pond, mine's tiny, dropped in the ground near the rockery, it was part of a waterfall section, not used. It was full of lovely green slime and the trunk which is poised to allow anything to climb out, was out of the water as the level had dropped so low. I bailed it out and with my hand, scooped out all the leaves in the bottom, finding the little wooden frog who sits beside it in the bottom - quick heart-attack moment when something wriggled in my hand!! It was a toad in the bottom too. Cleaned it out more water-butt water and back in he went, now he can get out if he wants! I bet it's not long before your pond is occupied by all sorts of things.
