Where's the sun?

It’s another cold day here in the North West, I’v brought my outdoor tomatoes in to the conservatory to keep warm they are not thriving at all. My aching joints are desperate for a touch of warm sunshine as well. The christmas tree I bought at the bargain price £7 is however flourishing, it has sprouted bright green floretty type things almost all over it, just the side away from the sun is without. My husband says they are new branches but I don’t think so….does anybody know what they are….I am thinking they are the flower before the cone….am I right or way off the wall. they come covered in a pale brown skin which bursts as they grow with this amazing soft lime green floret of pine needles emerging.

So, after 3 different sites for my clematis I have finally found one where she is happy, I have had this clematis for 4 years now and this is the first time she has flowered with any impact…quite beautull don’t you think.

And finally does anybody recognise this close photo?
I think they are pretty amazing things.

New branches most definitely, the cones are a different colour when they appear.

No expert on Xmas trees sorry, I go with Oliveoil new branches. I have the same Clematis, found it under a ton of weeds when we first moved here, now I found a good place for it and so far it had 6 flowers, but don't know the name of this Clematis do you? And what on earth is that "Thing" on the last photo, hope someone will know

Thanks Daisy, Do you - not sure yet if my Clem. is the same as yours, colouring seems the same so I've counted the petals on yours and will check mine in the morning. Will you be cutting yours back?

The second photo of yours still intrigues me, hope someone will come up with an answer.
