On a more cheerful note, it is also my brother's birthday today (although he won't be reading this because he hates gardening)

Not ignoring your blog Daff its very poignant but what to say that can offer some comfort to those who have suffered so much .Whilst governments continue to inflict the consequences of this tragedy around the world , perhaps it has served to strengthen the bond between common people whatever their nationality.

In its own way goy may be doing its bit to foster these relationships.

I always think about them on 9/11, and also the 7/7 boming that was over here.

I echo the sentiments that have been expressed. The dates of tragedies are always hard for those left behind and we are thinking of them too today.

I for one will never forget 9/11. I live about 2 1/2 hours drive from NYC. Many people who live in my city commute to NYC every day. 42 people from my area lost their lives that day. People who live at the end of my street lost two sons who worked for a large brokerage firm in the towers. So very sad. Fate was very good to some. My sister's brother in law stayed home that day because his wife gave birth at 8 am that morning.
