Today in my garden :)

After an 11 miles walk in the Peak District yesterday I decided to take it easy today… by taking out two huge lavender bushes and replacing them with lots of new plants :D

Here’s a “before” pic, as you can see the lavenders were quite straggly and taking over the paving!

And two hours later:

I’ve planted two Asters, Alice Haslam and Snowcushion, a Helleborus orientalis “Double Mixed” and a Geranium himalayense…

And next to them a Griselinia littoralis to give some all year colour.

Some more pics from the garden today…

A new laurel and two Heucheras, Creme Brule and Can-Can (bargains at only £2.99 each!) They might be going in the border here, it depends how quickly the laurel fills out. For now they can stay there to fill in the gaps :)

One of our Clematis has been moved to this side of the garden where a Clematis montana was before, I decided to get rid of that as it was growing at a rate of a foot each day! Our lovely new Acer palmatum is doing great :)

These Crocosmia and African lillies were already in the garden when we moved here, it’s nice to see them in flower. Weirdly, I rather like the orange and purple together…

And lots of Petunias to add some colour :)

Nice to see the sunshine over the last few days, it makes a nice change! Hope you are all enjoying your gardens too :)

That border looks great Craftyemma, I dug out a huge overgrown lavender in my garden a couple of years ago, i thought it would put up a fight! but it was dug up and out in ten minutes, Brill.
I love orange and purple together, im going to buy tulips in these colours for next year :)

Sorry but I have to agree with Pixi and Helen - I prefer the "before" photo - but then, I'm a lavender nut anyway !

Hehe, don't worry everyone, I've got 5 huge lavenders in the front garden so I'm not lavenderless! :D I'm hoping some of these new plants will spill over in the future. Next year we're planning on taking up a lot of the paving and replacing it with gravel/grass so it's not finished yet.

GrannyB, we were walking the Manifold Trail. Didn't make it up to Thors Cave this time but we had a lovely day out :)

Thanks for all your comments :)
