My! How You've Grown!

Last year I really took a fancy to growing some of the slightly tender succulents and having a table display of them outside during the ‘summer’ months (lol….what summer months? I cry). I brought them indoors last winter and took a photo of my little collection……

Well, first of all a fellow gardener Delivery Van Driver called Simon kindly brought me some new friends (and I gave him a couple of mine) then Angela sent me a lovely parcel of gorgeousness…..and everything grows as we know. So now…..

There will have to be some repotting in the spring from the look of some of these.

So this winter’s project is to come up with ideas for how I am going to display all of these next summer on my Open Garden days, and where on earth I am going to put them next winter!

They do grow don’t they?! :)

p.s. Angela, the first photo, right side of the tray is the little hairy blue ?echeveria you sent just as it started to reproduce itself. The second photo on the right side is how it looks today!

I have a collection of succulents as well Karen, Sandra at Corseside was the person who influenced me, lol, mine live in the greenhouse during the winter and outside in the summertime, I bought wrought iron shelving for them and create plant theatres to the side of our patio, I love them all, I noticed you have nice deep windowledges for yours to sit on, afraid I have no space indoors for mine, going to be repotting next year as well, oh what fun we create for ourselves, lol...I'm on a mission in the new year to find some of the really dark leaved ones, I keep missing out at my local nursery so online shopping it will be, I also want some red airplants.....

They look like they have done really well.

Aeoniums have always been my favorite succulent. They bring so much drama wherever you put them. I like how you put them in their little white pots. It sets off the color very well.

My goodness they have done well for you Karen.......we just dot ours around the garden in small groups, or pot up several to make an arrangement, using stones, shells etc....

Aloe Vera is a must have. You can make smoothies with them and they heal every ailment you can have.

Thanks Angela...think I will google some ideas. I don’t think it would be practical to have them all together, but we shall see. Your arrangements always look wonderful.

Bathgate I drink Aloe juice almost every day! :)

Hi Karen, they're looking great.

If you're still after some ideas have a look at https://www.gardenanswer.com she posts YouTube videos and has loads of beautiful succulent displays.

Thanks Sam :) I think we have it sussed now. Scott is going to build me a tiered bench/staging to match the planters he has already built. It will have a lip so the pots won’t get blown out by our strong winds. Three tiers on short legs. I think it will work well. I got the idea from seeing succulents in an old chest of drawers on pinterest.

Attractive collection of potted plants there, Karen, and you've displayed them prettily. A good variety of shapes and colours.
