It's looking lovely, Karen. All you need now is some late sunshine . . .

Great Karen. I can't remember what was here before, grass?
What is your nice big yellow grass and the plant to the right of it? Reminds me of Pelargonium, thanks

Looks really good 😀

I wonder if the yellow grass is Hakenochloa, Dawn??

I hope you don't see a weed, that would put an end to your meditation. I would jump up and remove the offending seedling. It would pray on my mind.

this looks wonderful and so peaceful. I did some gardening today in the lovely sunshine and I feel relaxed and wonderful.

"Oh for a book and a shady nook...."

A quiet read: a quiet thought: then a snooze.....bliss!

All you need now is some warmth & a couple of cushions. Love that steamer chair.

Thanks very much everyone, it is Hakonechloea Dawn and Angela and to the right of it is Geranium Phaeum Samabor. Sadly, neither of them are evergreen.

I did have a little sit down today, but I've been quite busy. I bought a couple of shrubs for the hot border for winter interest and a couple of things had to be moved to accommodate them...then I had to remove and split a Geum, then I had to cut back some dead stuff, then I had to remove some weeds and of course everything had to be watered in. Honestly, there's always something isn't there!

But thank you, that meditation corner is just what was needed in that corner...Dawn, it was just mossy grass and an old apple tree which I had pollarded, so that had to be dug out. It was really hard work, but its done now and its a super place for sitting. It faces East, so will have the best of the morning sun. I just hope that the Acer won't be upset there. It was doing brilliantly in its planter, but the planter was getting too small for it. I've also planted my half moon acer in there...behind the 'toadstools'.

I must tell you all...when I spotted that small standard golden pine in the GC I was over the moon. At first I walked away as it was more that I would hope to pay for a plant, but I went back for it, as I knew it would be perfect there and I do love Pines. I'm glad I did. There was only one, and they aren't easy to find.

Looking very relaxing already Karen

I was having a chill out with a cuppa on the patio listening to the birds singing, the water in the river bubbling along and a light wind rustling the leaves on the trees....

and got attacked by a huge wasp that was after my cuppa and danish pastry !!

I didnt feel so relaxed in the end lol

Oh Karen thats so typical of what happens here, I make a drink and go sit down near my bottom pond if in the mood for just sitting and thinking, then my eyes spot something and I'm up and away which leads to more looking and tweaking, before you know it you're working again and the thinking time has passed by, oh and the drink is cold, lol.....
The idea is a good one and it looks very attractive Karen...

Thank you...I sat on it again today! I managed 10mins and then OH brought us a cuppa so I moved to sit with him. It was beautiful here today. I am really glad weade this corner, its a great place to sit. Best seat in my garden. :)

It will be a while before you can site there with a glass of wine but maybe a hot drink. X

Yes, a mug of cocoa Linda! Or a mug of soup! I have a large wool blanket I can wrap around myself. X

I love having several seating areas around the garden, handy for perception, which areas work, and which need working on.....

9 Oct, 2017

Karen, I know its hard work but well worth it, much better than mossy grass. Love your golden pine too, good find.

10 Oct, 2017

Thanks Angela and Dawn! Angela...I hear you can use the seating areas for other things as well as critiqueing your work and working out how to improve it! Lol...but thats mostly what us gardeners do though isnt it. ;)

Dawn, thank you, yes, it is well worth it. Today was amazing here. There was something about the light...om a basically grey day..that brought out all the autumn hues at their best. The greens were luminous and the reds were like jewels. The height of autumn. :)

That looks lovely. I have one of those chairs, they are so comfortable. I have unintentionally fell asleep a couple of times in it!

11 Oct, 2017

Thanks Lisa. :) It is a lot more comfortable than I thought it would be, and I'm sure I'll be nodding off in it too!

11 Oct, 2017

I love the autumn light Karen, you've described the effect perfectly.

12 Oct, 2017
