Just a few quick pics. of February

Hi everyone, still no internet, so I’m at Rachel’s pinching hers while waiting for a new bed delivery. It’s cold here, but nothing like the cold you’re getting in England…brrr! Which is just as well as our boiler has broken down twice in the last week.

Yes I love your witch hazel too - mine is not doing so well - it is very close to an acer and I think during the year it loses out on sunlight and maybe moisture - well it has had plenty now!! it is too big to re -site I think - but maybe I will have to look at that later in the year - good luck with your internet - I am having printer problems !! Oh Karen, I hope your internet gets sorted soon! And your boiler.....mine keeps having a cough and splutter and has decided if I don't have the heating on then I'm not allowed hot water either....grrrr....luckily have the log burner...

Beautiful winter pics....I'm sure my hellebore is the one you have....heavy frost here, but I like it! X

Loving your Witch Hazel......ours is rubbish, not suited to our climate or position..... unfortunately.

I bought this witch hazel last year. It was a well established plant and looked very healthy, and as my other one is doing so well I thought it was worth payong the money for it to get some winter colour and scent. Its been replanted twice because of the pond digging and then the. Excavation of this border, and I was really concerned for it, but its bounced back beautifully. Its a real winter highlight for me..hopefully it will last for the rest of my life! Arnold Promise is its name. A beautiful plant. Still no internet...not BTs fault...its all down to Openreach who are accountable to nobody and you cant contact them direct unless you want to tell them what a good job you're doing. Its a disgrace. Selling off our essential services when there could never be any competition for their business is very wicked, and entirely down to our governments. They've been at it since Thatcher and its disgraceful and they ought to be held accountable or it. Sorry, I can be a bit political sometimes!

Janey..thats what happened to us this week...friday we didnt get any hot water unless the heating was on, then Sunday the whole lot packed up. Get someone out...you might have a leak like us. :)

There I was thinking you were on holiday Karen, your internet has been off for a long time hasn't it so you are entitled to have a rant, not good when the boilers go wrong at any time but typically sods law predicts its always the winter..
Garden is rewarding you Karen so at least somethings are going right.....

Just catching up with you Karen and left you a message on my page !
Witch Hazel has always been the one tree I wanted , but never bought ! Most trees and shrubs go in pots here as the borders would be too shaded and I would have to widen them, yet again ! I don't think I'd get away with taking more ! Hahaa!
Your Witch Hazel is beautiful !

Thanks Angela...if all else fails, have a tantrum! ;)

Rose, my tree of unfulfilled desire is Acer Griseum!

Great blog, Karen. Sorry to hear of your problems. I've been "absent" for a while, very busy right, left and centre. 2016 is really gearing up - son no 1 is getting married in Buxton a week today πŸ˜ƒ and we've recently learned that
d-i-l and daughter are both expecting their second babies so it's all very exciting! I am hoping to have a good gardening year as last year wasn't very productive for one reason and another - maintenance was the name of the game (ish!). I'm hoping to get inspiration from my friendly Goyers! I'm finding it quite hard to believe that Spring is just around the corner, but when I look at what is actually growing - and what has stayed active all through the winter, for that matter - I have no excuse for being taken by surprise. I suppose I must just put it down to my age!

Welcome back Melchi...and many congratulations! Have a great time at the wedding, and by the time all the excitement has died down we'll be very close to SPRING!πŸŒΊπŸŒžπŸ‘’πŸŒΏπŸŒΈπŸ’β˜€οΈ

Congratulatins Melchi wonderful news .

And Karen lovely photos sorry to here about your phone problems

There was an article in the paper last week and wondered if it was you that wrote in.

If you see this Karen noticed that Glamis Castle are needing a head gardener yet again.

21 Feb, 2016

Oh dear....that's a pity Kath. No, it wasn't me that wrote the letter in the paper. I didn't see it. Was it in the Courier?

21 Feb, 2016

Yes it was in the courier .

Its taking long time to get sorted out.

Yes shame re ,I just searched Glamis Castle to see when they open again used to be 10 am now its Miday and thats when I saw head gardener wanted.

Be real sad if they cant get anyone.

22 Feb, 2016

Line is all repaired now Kath, thanks :) pity about the castle. Yes, I saw the ad on the website.

22 Feb, 2016

Thanks, Karen and Kath - a busy and interesting year ahead, I think! And joyous, of course. Lots of music coming up at the wedding on Saturday. Son no 2 is singing, accompanied by daughter, and there are going to be lots of musicians amongst the guests. A cabaret evening with open mike. Goody, goody!
