severely 'pruned' by storm Gerty.

hI everyone! i am still here…sorry for my temporary absence. Its been a trial. Storm Gertrude took out our phone lines a week ago, and getting BT to organise a repair with Open Reach or whatever they call themselves nowadays is proving a challenge. We can only talk to people in India and apparently open Reach don’t commu icate directly with either BT (their sister company) or us minions! So I have the lcal Councillor looking into it now. Not only is it a huge inconvenience, but there are very elderly people living on our road who have no other means of communicating with the outside world! And thank heavens we aren’t running a business feom home! I’m sure something will be done eventually, but so far they have sent out two different Engineers, neither of whom has actually done anything more than tuck the wire into the hedge to stop it being a motoring hazard! Lol..the trials of country life! So here I am in Dobbies checking messages and letting people know. I’d love to say I’ll be back soon…..but…..well, we’ll see!

Hang in there Karen you'll get through it. We haven't forgotten you. I know exactly what you feel. I've called the City about cutting down a giant dying Silver Maple in front of my house, to no avail. Every time a storm comes through, it lops off a branch that falls (where else) directly onto my phone or power lines and zaps me back to the stone age for at least a week. GOOD TIMES!!

Poor you,Karen......I was wondering where you were. It's an uneasy feeling when communications are down for awhile......Hope you have some luck shortly.

Hi Karen, that is rotten luck, but look on the bright side, it gives you an excuse to visit the garden centre, and you can't help looking round while you're there can you ?, Derek.

At least nowadays you have mobile phones so you can be grateful for small mercies! So very frustrating - lets hope the powers that be get their fingers out asap. Good excuse to keep going to Dobies anyway!

So sorry Karen, I didn't mean to sound flippant ! I was just feeling a bit down and sorry for myself yesterday !
It must be awful being cut off like this ! We just take everything for granted , don't we !

Thank you all foryour kind and thoughtful comments. i'm here at GC again, just had a coffee and a...yes you guessed it...empire biscuit. No chance of any internet before 15th Feb now as two poles need to be replaced before they can putlne back. So that will probably mean nothing before end of Feb. But as you all know, we are fine with mobiles and a very, very convenient GC! :)

So annoying isn't it Karen, my computers been messing around for a few days, you feel lost without it don't you?

No chance Janey. They arent going to even start before 15th. Good news though. We have managed to get a big reduction in our direct debit because we asked to leave BT. Silver lining....

Karen, I have only just read of your communication problems! Ironically, as our computer screen keeps 'freezing' and takes so long to re-appear I am behind with GoY, e-mails etc. Fingers crossed you will be up and running before too long. :o)
