Mum and Daughter project...

Well, we’ve redecorated Rachel’s new home, and now it is ready for her to move in to at the weekend. I have been working on it for 8 days now, Scott has done about 5! We are thinking of starting up a new business. Callum says the going rate is £25 a wall. We reckon we could make money!

Anyway, enough of that…here’s the garden ‘before’ shots. Once Rachel is settled in, we will sit down over a cuppa and make plans before I start on the job. After all, only fair that she should have some input on her own garden!

First, here’s the front…..

And at the back…facing NW…

First jobs….demolish rickety old blue shed, paint fence and deck, remove rickety old paving slabs, reshape beds to leave a small circular or oval lawn, create new borders, lay new paving/gravel, and PLANT! :)) And that’s just the back. Lots of fun to be had here I think……

She is very lucky to have you to help, Karen. Perhaps some of your list will have to wait until the weather improves. She might end up with a frozen mum feature in her garden. :0)

Looks a nice manageable size - lots of good ideas! I'd add a path around the reshaped lawn to get to the decking.

This will be interesting!

I wish I could have your energy Karen. You are an amazing person.

2 Dec, 2015

That's just what I was thinking, Klahanie. Karen you must have some pretty big muscles to keep going like you do!
She is a lucky girl to have a knowledgable mum willing to do all the work for her.

I'm sure you will be such a great influence on the garden planning K.

2 Dec, 2015

Looks like a project that you will really enjoy takeing on .

Great looking project for you and Rachel ...... Looking forward to seeing progress updates ...... I reckon you could do similar makeovers to Alan T. I bet he get's paid more than "a cup of tea an hour though !" ........ lol

Thank you all very much! Im no body builder, in fact I'm more flab than beef! But you know its whats in the heart that matters eh? I do love to be outdoors, in fact I've just spent a damp and dismal morning in my own garden raking leaves, shifting plants and a bit of cutting back. It was so good to be outdoors again with the dogs running around me instead of stuck inside with paint fumes and paint up to my elbows! I shall be picking paint out of my hair for weeks!

Oh isn't she a lucky lady. I bet you can't wait to get stuck in there with her. There's lots of scope for some super ideas. Lots of pics please!

2 Dec, 2015

A virtual blank canvas at the back there, nice dining area, a few pots for now would brighten the winter
lucky girl.....both lucky girls 😆

2 Dec, 2015

that looks an interesting project for you both love the size, Rachel will manage that well. Is it a bungalow?

2 Dec, 2015

Yes...a tiny bungalow built in the 70s with a flat roof extension for the second bedroom. Perfect for her. I think she will love it there. Its a very quiet neighbourhood, fairly elderly with lots of dogs and cats and nice established gardens. Sainsburys close at hand and lovely Broughty Ferry shops, beach and restaurants only a couple of miles away.

2 Dec, 2015

sounds lovely, sure she will be very happy and Broughty Ferry shops and beach is brilliant. Idyllic springs to mind.
Now just Callum to get sorted and find somewhere for him.

Nooooo....can't do two in one year! Who would dogsit?!

2 Dec, 2015

Lovely little first home for Rachel Karen.

And with a built in gardener to fix the garden up for her .

Not far for you to visit ,you are going to have so much fun changing the garden .

Will Rachel be taking her dog with her to her new home?

2 Dec, 2015

Erm...which one do you think is Rachel's dog Kath!? Lol...not a chance!

2 Dec, 2015

Well kinda thought Willow was ment to be her dog but guess really she is your dog.

The dogs can go their holidays to Rachels 😀

2 Dec, 2015

Nope...she is definitely Scott's Dog...she follows him around like a shadow. Are you at home for a few weeks now Kath? I am used to you being away more than at home these days....when is your next trip?

2 Dec, 2015

A lovely first home for Rachel, and just the right size too..I like the gardens, which already don't look too bad..Is there something wrong with the shed,or is she going to get a better one ?..you need somewhere to keep your tools, when you are working there :o)

3 Dec, 2015

There is a really good, larger, newer shed Sandra. She doesn't need two sheds and this blue one is very rickety and damp, so no use for storage.

3 Dec, 2015

You can see the other shed behind the whirly in one of the pics.

3 Dec, 2015

Such a lovely space!! I Can't wait to see just what you're going to do with it!

3 Dec, 2015

Ah yes,Karen..looks to be much better and bigger? A girl needs a good shed..:o)

3 Dec, 2015

Yes, about half the size again of the blue one and brand new almost.

3 Dec, 2015

Good luck to Rachel, Karen, in her new home. An amazing project for you too, and you'll make it amazing, we know you will! I agree with everyone, you must have endless energy and such stamina....looking forward to seeing it progress. X

3 Dec, 2015

Hmmm...thanks Janey. I might take a break now until after Christmas! :))

3 Dec, 2015

Busy, busy, busy. Our daughter moved out last week, thankfully the house is new. So much work moving her in though. The garden is a nice size and one side has a tall, curved wall which will be useful.

5 Dec, 2015

Well well Dawn...what a coincidence! That tall curved wall sounds great! We are still moving stuff. Rachel has just left with about a third of her teaching paraphinalia. :)

6 Dec, 2015

Oh yes Karen so much potential, I hope Rachel enjoys her new home and garden...exciting stuff...

8 Dec, 2015

She's been looking at DA roses today! She wants four for in front of the deck.

8 Dec, 2015

So, Karen, now you know what to get her for Chrissy, lol

9 Dec, 2015

Yes....a lawnmower!

9 Dec, 2015
