Respite!

Today was beautiful. Still, sunny, and mild enough to thaw the ground a good bit.

After our afternoon walk, I sat on the patio while Callum assembled the cold frame for me!

The Bonsai Acer ‘Little Princess’ has been re-homed….

Although it is still mid-winter, the herb garden and pod looked welcoming in the sunshine, and it felt like spring.

Even the back garden is still quite green, and it won’t be too long now before the sun makes it around to the north facing side before going down to bed!

And I still can’t get over these wonderful views. Every day I am thankful :) Thanks for looking in. Karen :)

My thats some humdinger of a greenhouse !

Last picture good exercise in perspective - suit Pamg.
Can you see how the trees get smaller, and road gets
narrower in the distance ?
Everything you want to know is on Goy.

I am with you there Karen, having been used to fantastic views in our old house, I didnt for one moment expect ever to be so lucky again but our new view over the moors and the dales are superb in their own way. Like you I am gratefull every day that dawns. Love that pod!
Btw what are the red stems in front of the viburnum, is it an acer?

I know I've said this before, but I so envy you with where you live and your garden Karen.
Meanwhile, I have to say I feel sorry for Callum, there he is working away while you sit down, snapping pics of hi, poor man and not a cuppa and a bikkie in sight lol!

JUlia...not only that, but he'd been up working all night in a hotel! Bless him :) he fell asleep at 4.30 and I shan't see him again till morning!

It does Linda. Was it warm with you today?

Another lovely blog Karen. Great photos of your garden and absolutely spectacular views .. now all you need is some nice warm temperatures to see everything take off. 😎

PS I assume if Callum had already done a night shift ... you paid him the going overtime rate !

It all looks beautiful, Karen, and you must love it. We have had days of bright sunshine - really lovely, but COLD! No sitting on the patio for us just yet!

Thanks everyone! I sat on the bench in the sun again today. No coat. It was like April or May. long may it continue. The bulbs will be shooting up soon! Still some shady corners that are frozen solid though!

Your little shade garden is such a success - it seems such a short time since it was so very different!

Thank you very much Stera!

Missed this one, I would never, ever, tire of looking at the wonderful views, something to get up in the morning for, and the garden looks so mature, you have done an excellent job, be proud!!

ThankS ever so Angela. I actually am! I can't wait to see all the new perennials this year, as most of them were too young to flower last season. It's going to be amazing this year! And this year I will be spending a lot of energy and time getting my food production corner going at the greenhouse. I really want that corner packed full of greenery and productivity....:)) my first tomatoes have germinated....just!

19 Feb, 2015

Growing tomatoes is so rewarding, Karen. There is no comparison whatsoever between homegrown ( especially warm from the sun) and bought. Well worth waiting for!

Melchior, all my past efforts have been fairly disastrous with mealy, tasteless fruits. This year...third attempt...will be different.

21 Feb, 2015

What varieties have you tried, Karen? I always grow Gardener's Delight and a yellow variety, like Sungold because OH loves the yellow ones.

23 Feb, 2015

Mostly Gardeners Delight. I have some different ones this time. I buy my seeds from plantsofdistinction website, and they have a great range.

23 Feb, 2015

I always used to start mine from seed, but for the last few years I have bought young plants. I haven't anywhere really convenient to bring them on once I've pricked them out. I did enjoy the process, though - very rewarding!

24 Feb, 2015

These first seedlings are of Rosella. A new cordon cherry tomato. It has a kind of blackish overtone on the deep coloured skin and is said to be very sweet and acid. A heavy cropper too. Yum!

24 Feb, 2015

Sounds good!

24 Feb, 2015

Does eh? Time will tell whether I can nurture it well enough for it to live up to its reputation!

24 Feb, 2015

I'm sure you can! And you have that super greenhouse - they'll thrive 😉

24 Feb, 2015

:) thanks Melchi!
