The story of my greenhouse…..

All finished by 3.45pm, and the rain started at about 4.10…and now its pouring down…but much needed.

All that’s in there right now is a little clematis florida, a passion flower and three red pelargoniums….a chair, a radio and a few tools.

And so that’s the end of my waiting! :)) But not the end of my work!

Oh, and the greenhouse is a Rhino Premium in Silver Sage 8×12 feet if anyone is wondering. :)

Wow am I jealous. What are your plans for it?

26 Jul, 2014

Well, it will be growing some salad this summer, and next spring there will be some mini cucumbers, peppers, courgettes and possibly melons in there. Propagation will be it's other job. I have some cuttings waiting to be homed in there. Over the winter it will be home for my scented leaf pelargoniums and Fuchsias. It has hanging basket rails, so I think I'll have strawberries in there next year too. And maybe even a grapevine...but maybe not. I'll definitely be experimenting with some new crops anyway. Lots to look forward to!

It looks lovely Karen, as if it has always been there...I like that :)))

Thanks Michaella! :)

That's superb Karen ... I have put three slabs down on the gravel in mine ... better than standing on the 'crunchy' stones! Is it East/West or North/South? Just wondering when the sun will be on it! Oh, you're going to have years of propagating within ... :o)

26 Jul, 2014

No Karen not the end but merely the beginning, it's wonderful.

26 Jul, 2014

Thank you both. The house faces south Shirley, so sunshine all day long. Think I'm going to need shading!

26 Jul, 2014

There isn't a bit of shade in my garden in summer. The only bit is the end of the house in the morning. The West facing end.

Hi Karen, so the wait is over at last!!, nice looking greenhouse, I notice you went for the double door option!, it will soon be earning it's keep, with all that you plan to grow in there, plus the propagation you have planned, it will be full soon enough, Derek.

26 Jul, 2014

It will Derek, thank you. The double door comes as standard on this one, so I didn't have to think about that.

26 Jul, 2014

Great Karen you will love the double door my big one has the double door.

The smaller greenhouse has a single door.

Good luck most of also enjoy.

Make sure also have a seat to sit to propagate:)

Thanks Kath. The staging is too high....although I could do a high stool I suppose. Very pleased with it. :)

26 Jul, 2014

Well I am impressed. You have waited a long time for you beautiful greenhouse. Now the fun begins.

26 Jul, 2014

Thanks Linda! :)

It looks great, Karen, and is a really useful size as well. What fun you'll have!

26 Jul, 2014

Thanks Melchi. :))

It'll be worth it's weight in gold with all the sowing and growing you will be able to do. It's a great size and it looks good too. Glad to hear you have a radio in there...the plants love music they say and so do I when I'm working in mine.....

26 Jul, 2014

Yes HB, my little solar powered one that OH gave me for my birthday! It's found it's home! :)) thank you!

27 Jul, 2014

Wow it looks ace, lots of growing to do now. :O)

27 Jul, 2014

Yes, that space is useless for much else, as it's so close to the road, so it just fits in there perfectly. So e cuttings in there now, two hanging baskets of strawbs, and two willow planters waiting for compost and salad seed.

27 Jul, 2014

Karen it's also handy to put in clothes airer if rain comes on.

Seen mŷ towels still on whirly and need to get them quick just put them on airer in greenhouse.

Good idea Kath! ;)

You are having a wonderful summer to get on with all your work on the new garden. When the sun goes in we will all miss it, even though we've sweltered at times. Maybe you can have a shady arbour somewhere in the garden?

3 Aug, 2014

I'm hoping to have a pergola eventually Dorjac, thanks! :)

3 Aug, 2014

wow, that looks amazing. sure it'll get a lot of use and eventually pay for itself. speaking of which, have you added it to the household insurance?

4 Aug, 2014

Good thinking Fran...I hadn't thought of that! Thanks! :))

4 Aug, 2014

A wonderful size and not taking up precious room in your beautiful garden, what fun you will have K......

4 Aug, 2014

Thanks A! :) winter holds no fear for me this year! :)

4 Aug, 2014

That's brave talk K lol

5 Aug, 2014

Lol....it is! :))

5 Aug, 2014

lol though you may have to shovel your way through the snowdrifts to the greenhouse!

6 Aug, 2014

Unlikely, but you never know Fran. Your winter is more likely to be harsh than ours, if the past few years are anything to go by.

6 Aug, 2014

fingers crossed, it won't be too bad here - when I first moved in, i asked a cab driver; he said we don't often get extreme weather becuase there's hills all round that shield the town. Will have to wait and see
