Busy morning!

I’ve been very busy this morning. John and Shaun arrived to start on the landscaping jobs. Job number one….make a concrete base for the greenhouse….

While they are working on this, I have been cutting back my Eryngiums, deadheading my penstemons and roses, tying in my sweetpeas and removing lots of weeds and the shoofly plants (which were HUGE) and most of the Borage (which was also HUGE!).

The rose ‘Simple Gold’ was too orange and pink for the Golden Border, so it has been moved in to the patio border as well.

It all looks so much ‘lighter’ now, and hopefully everything will grow away and give me another flush. The young scented Phlox also have room to breathe and some of them are coming in to flower too. Lots to look forward to yet.

After that I set about the herb bed. I removed the sweetpeas which were sad and pathetic (I still have some better ones in the patio border). It was my fault, I planted them in poor soil. I’ll do better next year….hopefully! Then I deadheaded all the violas and some of the Thyme and the pineapple mint got a haircut too. Some plants removed, some grass seed sown up to the edge of the boundary, and some herbs moved around a bit. It looks like a herb border now…it was a mess with weeds and spent Night Scented Stock.

Have a great afternoon and evening everyone! Don’t work too hard. I was very sensible today, remembered to put my hat on! :)

All looks very neat and tidy now, that is a job well done. What a lot of machinery for a concrete base! What size is the greenhouse

8 Foot by 12 Foot Wendy. It's going to be lovely! I can't wait! The drive slopes, so that's why we had to have a propery flat base laid. Otherwise we probably could have just bolted it to the tarmac. But perhaps that wouldn't have been very secure, and we do get very strong winds in the winter here.

The garden looks lovely Karen, as always. lol :O) I hope you keep putting that kettle on for those workmen and keeping their sugar levels up so they get a good base in for that greenhouse. I am so excited for you, so looking forward to seeing it in place oh and of course the POD!!! LOL :O)

mum, they didn't want any refreshments...the kind of workmen I like! They brought their own!

I have never met that kind before Karen lol :O) whenever the estate workmen come to do anything they knock off at 9am for breakfast and have tea and coffee throughout the day. lol :O) Have they got it levelled ready for cement then?

Great size for a greenhouse - you won't want to come out of it...

Looks lovely, always nice to have a mid season tidy up in anticipation of another couple of months of floral displays :-)

You did work hard, Karen! Bet you can't wait for that greenhouse - a whole new dimension!

Thanks everyone! The rain is pouring now, and the workmen noticeable by their absence! There is just a big rectangular trench! They are going to fill it in and then concrete the top and set breeze blocks in to it to form a level base. I can't wait! The installer phoned last night, he is coming a week Saturday to set it all up for me! Whoop! :))))))))
