Summer Solstice

It’s been a cloudy day today. Not the best weather for the Solstice. People sometimes ask me if it really is lighter in Summer in Scotland…noticeably lighter. Well, I took these pictures at 10.30 pm with a very heavy cloud cover, and I didn’t use flash. As you will see, it was still quite light. Pity it was so cloudy. I was hoping for a lovely sunset to share with you!

How lovely, I can remember my son saying how light it was when he used to holiday in Scotland but am I right in thinking that you have to put up with dark mornings in the winter, I used to hate walking to work in the dark even though it was only for a few weeks Dec/Jan time....

Oh yes LL. With the light, comes the Dark! It's dreadful in winter, and on cloudy days in December it can be 10am before it's light, and some days we never really get daylight. I use a daylight lamp to help keep SAD at bay, but it's hard. It's easier in the country...doesn't affect me as badly. Not so built up, so we get more light, which does help. :)

On our journey home from Falmouth yesterday we saw a beautiful sunset over Newquay which coloured the whole sky with touches of mauve and pink and blue/grey. Shame I was driving at the time!
I love this time of year, I really do.

The long, light evenings are such a tonic, aren't they? It's all too easy, though, to do far too much in the garden as a result. I overdid it on Friday and was so exhausted yesterday that I was in bed by 9.45 - not like me at all! I slept until after 10 this morning; really was tired.
Are you over your virus, Karen? I hope so.

Your border looks lovely in the half light Karen, it seems to glow.

Thanks Yuesdaybear. I'm still coughing a little bit, and like you, very tired. I've been like a half shut knife all day today. I think I need a day off! Lol!

Thanks Stera. I really love that border! :)

Think you passed your virus down to us Karen, Paul has been coughing and barking and now I have the cough. What is that all about, I can say though that we are both feeling better this weekend we are on the mend, and both teams won at cricket so its all good. :O) lol

Hope you both feel better quicker than me. That's three weeks now. I think it is going around all over the uk.

Karen thats the same flipping virus we've got here I think, I cannot shake it off and as I said I've shared with the family, we are coughing and spluttering amongst the sneezes and the first week my joints were hurting all the time, it really took it out of me, mines now entering second week but at least I don't hurt now...
Never had a single cold all last year then have to get a silly one in summertime, so much harder to shift when its warm weather.....

Yup, that's the one. My legs were aching too. Take it easy.
