An eerie mist came down today..

It’s been really mild here today, and we even had some sunshine, but about at about 4pm an eerie mist came down. I was sitting on my swing seat playing with the dog, and watched as it rolled down the hills to the back and front of the house.

It was so lovely to sit in the garden…no coat, just a cardigan, and enjoy just ‘being’ and having no neighbours around. What a lovely place it is! As you can see, Molly is happy too!

Today was Rachel’s (my daughter) first day at work since she left the highlands in November. So it was extra lovely to just be by myself, knowing that she was back at work, and I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

You`ve found the perfect new home by the look of it Karen and it hasn`t taken long for you to start making your own mark on it. It looks so idyllic and mollie has plenty of space to play.
The weather was quite mild today and no rain till around 4pm so started on the re-vamp of the front garden - hopefully third time lucky.lol.

Hi Karen ... looks wonderful, especially, as you say, with no neighbours around ... seems an impossible dream ...

It looks lovely, Karen, and you've already made it your own. Bliss just to "be"! Best wishes to Rachel ;-)

What a wonderful, peaceful place. You've found your little piece of heaven :)

What a pleasure it must have been. I so enjoy my peace and quiet during the day. It so gets to me when somebody has a day off and gets under my feet.
Molly looks to be having great fun bounding about there.

Heaven..no noise and best of all no neighbours..aahh..bliss! :))

Kath, I hope you are on the mend. I went to the castle yesterday, took a load of plants from my garden here..things. I'd split and didn't need all the bits. I planted that all while I was up there. There aren't nearly as many gaps as. I feared, so very pleased with it all. Can't wait for the spring now! Rachel is in a school at this end of Dundee! but only for this week. They will try to get her something longer term for next week. She enjoyed her day! :)))))))

Stroller...another revamp? Good luck, and don't overdo it or you'll end up as mad as a hatter like me! Thanks..yes, it is just lovely.

Snoopdog....yup, you definitely are a fella! Lol! :))

Thanks Michaella!

Terra..if you think it seems like an impossible dream....remember that was exactly how I felt as recently as August last year. When change comes, it's not usually what we expect. Keep hoping and praying and dreaming, and you will be amazed! :)))

Thanks Melchi and Waddy! :))

Scottish...it's true, I really do enjoy solitude, always have. Some people don't get it. My old next door neighbour, when she found out where we were moving to was amazed. It was funny..she said "and you're not even a weirdo" see..she never really knew me! ;)

Helenium...it is! Thank you! X

I'm going to keep wishing for a new home too!

It looks fantastic, must be such a treat watching it coming awake and beginning to see what else you have in your garden besides the new planting you have done yourself, I've always been a bit of a loner, I too like my own company Karen especially when in the garden, so fully understand what you mean.
Molly is enjoying her romp about and sure has a lot of space to play in..

A day on my own in the garden is certainly bliss!.....certainly developing well,Karen.

Slacking, AS USUAL, Karen. Lol.
It's about time, too.
I'm itching to get out in the garden, again.

It seems most of us enjoy our solitude in the garden,Karen...not to have to think about anything, other than what we are doing at that moment..or to sit,and as you say..'just be '..even 'someone' calling out they have made you a cuppa..when you are up to your armpits in muck, can be annoying, however good the intention was :o)

19 Feb, 2014

I would have felt exactly the same Karen ... can't beat a bit of solitude away from the hustle and bustle of 'life'! Molly looks to be having a great time too ... :o)

lovely pics, Mist is atmospheric, semi-magical, whereas fog is ominous! You've got a wonderful garden there - can't wait to see how it develops. You must have terrific views - mist permitting!

That mist looks really amazing, I can remember that cottage we had up there many years ago, and riding across the glens and seeing the sun poking through the mist and it looked so magical. Lovely garden and it is coming along so nicely. Swing on girl, swing on!!!

Looking more like your garden, every time I see your pics...

Thanks everyone. More progress made today....coal cellar emptied and now designated as 'compost bin'. Coal donated to my neighbour. Huge wooden planter made for my spotted Laurel screen/hedge which I can't plant in the ground because of the septic tank and drains. Log edging finished (saw, saw, saw), and gravel moved ready for new. Water main uncovered under turf, and a bit more turf removed to reveal old slabs and bricks....Still grafting, but that's it for today!

The garden is really starting to take shape in these photos Karen. Nice to see Molly enjoying her new space too.
We often get mists like that rolling down the valley at the bottom of the garden, it's lovely looking down on it especially when the sun is shining. Romans used to march along the Nene Valley and the hill where I live was used as a look out post because of the views. I like to imagine them appearing out of the mist, armour glinting in the sunlight :o)

Funny you should say that....I've just been looking back to how it was before I started....in October...and really, it wasn't that bad! Now it just looks bare! No, seriously, I know its much better, but isn't February bleak? I am just about fed up now with winter. Just want things to start growing now. Not long though. :))

I love those kinds of mists! I hope they don't appear, those Romans, or you'll get such a fright!

Lol Karen that would be my favourite choice of kiss-a -gram, loved Gladiator! xx

20 Feb, 2014

Yes, I loved Gladiator too...but please...no strippers!

20 Feb, 2014

You could can it, Karen and make a fortune...'Scotch Mist'. ;-)

21 Feb, 2014

Yes, and if we could export the excess water too....we'd really be rich!

21 Feb, 2014

We already are...to English water companies.
I thought everyone knew?

23 Feb, 2014

Ah, well yes..I was thinking more of Africa than Aylesbury! :))

23 Feb, 2014

And you were thinking of the recently excessive, rather than the normal downpours we have, whilst I was being facetious.
My apologies, Karen and to those elsewhere, beset by these dreadful events!
I wasn't thinking straight.
Time for my meds. ;-)
