Village Flower Show.

Today was our village Flower Show. We had a wonderful day for it weatherwise, and an enormous crowd. The Shrewton Village Silver Band played most of the afternoon, and there were side shows and a Boot sale all around the edge of the field. All the village clubs and organisations had stalls selling their wares, and of course the Flower Show itself. I have tried to give a flavour of the event with the following photos, oh, and I entered my garden in the Best Floral Garden categorie and came second, one point behind the winner, so I was well pleased with that. I was serving on the Country Market stall, selling my Streptocarpus and herbs. Hope you enjoy.

Would like to know the name of this if anyone can help

I know what you mean Val, they are my babies. I don't mind if they go to people that I know will look after them, and most of the people that buy them are as keen as we are, and keep coming back for different ones.

Thanks Moti. Well there's an idea for you then, start up an annual village fete or flower show. We always have one here, and also used to have one where I lived before. Its great for meeting people. Have you got plenty of energy.

Thanks Tet, your comments about my plants appreciated too.

Thanks Jacquie, it was great fun, and I am getting to know more people too. Since joining our local Country Market I have met a lot of like minded people, and we are becoming great friends.

Thanks Karen, I have never seen that plant before. Do you have it in a pot or in the garden, as I have been promised a cutting. I'd like to know if it grows very large. and does it flower. The flowers you liked are dahlias and took a first prize. Not absolutely certain but think it was called Firecracker.

Many thanks TT. I really enjoyed the day, and to come second in the Garden section was great.

They are very 'different' aren't they...stunning! The persicaria is in my border Cinders, it has never flowered and it only grows about twice the size of the one you have on here. It never appears before mid July and then it stays until the frosts cut it down.

Thanks Karen, I think I may have to get a large pot for it then.
