My R & R.

Well I have just returned from my Rest & Relaxation on Hayling Island. Had a bit of a scare on the way as my brakes failed as I was coming to a roundabout, but managed to keep going as there luckily was no traffic at that point !! I pumped the brake pedal a few times, and it seemed ok after that, but had to be extra careful. Anyhow I will be getting it looked at now before I go anywhere else.
Consequently my friend and I used our bus passes and also went on long walks along the beach and round the creek to the lifeboat station, where we watched a practice rescue. Of course we had a lot of catching up to do so we didnt stop talking, and now I am hoping to have a quiet few days, sorting the garden that looks a bit overgrown and windswept. Didnt take many photos, but will put a couple on, one of the launching of the lifeboat and a view taken as we walked around the creek at low tide.

Looks a lovely place where you went glad you had a lovely time, sorry to hear of your brake failure, have you checked no leaks in brake fluid or could of been pads over heating and water on them. I would get them checked if I was you. I have had this but nothing even when I pumped them, so I had to change down quickly as there was a car in front and the lights were on red when aproching traffic lights, so I quickly changed down into 2nd and headed for the curb opposite lucky nothing was comming the other way , then I pulled the hand brake slowly till it was right up the kerb stopped me, then from there I called my son he was in frount taking it back to his house, for repair I drove it all the way without brakes, found out all the brake shoes had worn away, so never rely on mots, as an mot only stands legal for the day and time it was going through the mot.

Thanks Sixpence. Yes I enjoyed myself. The car will be going in to my local garage to be checked over as soon as I can get it booked in. I must admit it was rather frightening at the time, and lucky it was a quiet time of the day.

Thanks TT. Nice to have a break.

Thanks for your nice comments Dotty. As a child we used to holiday there most years, so I feel a little sentimental about it really. Yes my brakes going like that was scary. It is booked into the local garage for Tuesday. But thats not the end of it. This morning I have a crack in the windscreen which wasnt there yesterday, so I am wondering what will be the third thing now !! Still as you say I am all in one piece.

17 Jul, 2010

Oh dear, dont you just hate it waiting for the third thing to happen.....

19 Jul, 2010

Ah well, look on the bright side, it might not happen. lol...

You might even get a taste for the bus, at least you can sit and chat without having to watch the roads as well, but O.K. perhaps not. Its the time it takes!

Yes I do occasionally use the old bus pass, but you can't beat the car really. It is the time factor if you want to travel any distance, though we do have a good Park and Ride here. Join the club Sandygirl !!!!....

Pleased you enjoyed your break at Hayling Island. We used to have a caravan sited at' Fishermans Creek' there a few years ago and often took our grand~daughter there. We also used to meet up with friends who also had a caravan on another holiday site and have a great chin~wag. It was lovely. We havent visited the Island for a few years now,~ we have the sea and beaches on our doorstep now as we are now in Suffolk.~ Happy Gardening Cinders.

Thanks Lin, I love it down there at Hayling, especially where we were staying, it was so quiet. As a child we always went there as we used to have an aunt & uncle that had a caravan they used to hire out there. Happy memories. You are lucky to have the sea so near.
Happy gardening to you too.
