About me

I am a 58 year old asthmatic lady who is finding gardening harder as the years pass. I am trying to make things easier for myself by using weed smothering mulches and by building raised beds. This is difficult as I am not very good at DIY.
My garden is 30' by 130' divided into three areas. A patio area close to the house, then my vegetable section then over the stream, (its a storm drain really) there is my woodland area. This has a mature Ash tree growing in the centre and has; Elder, Hazel, Hawthorn, Robinia and Abutilon growing around the edges. This may sound idyllic but circumstances over the past two years have meant that I have been unable to cope with the garden and especially the woodland area is badly overgrown.
The upside to this situation is that I do find a lot of self sown seedlings. Tree seedlings I attempt to bonsai but my joy at the moment is a Magnolia seedling. It came from M. Leonard Messel, I think but I do have M. Liliflora Susan as well as a pink M. Stellata whose name escapes me, so I have got to be patient and wait and see.
