11 Noise and Disruption

For the last day and a half we have had the Everest double glazing guys in the house replacing most of the windows. Very nice guys, in fact some of the best workmen we have had in, but the disruption and Radio 1 at full blast from out in the garden!
Was it all worth it? Yes, every bit. The original windows would have required replacing within the next ten year anyway so we decided to use some of my pension lump sum now and improve the value of the house rather than try to invest it in these troubled times. The windows look good.

In the sitting room we always had the wide window opening so we asked for the widest single pane that we could have, three meters with a one meter opening window at each end. It is like sitting in the cinema watching one of those wide screen movies.

I agree, what a fabulous view. I bet your houseplants thrive with all that light too.
That looks like the perfect place to sit on a Sunday morning, eating breakfast, reading the paper and watching the world outside, just lovely.

Isn't this retiring thing great! If I'd known how much fun it was I would have retired at 16!

You have a wonderful view.

The trouble with a view like that is - as soon as you sit down to enjoy it, you see something that needs doing. Very difficult just to sit still and relax. You have a lovely open outlook there.
