New way of reviving rural village life. Community Pub, Cafe & Post Office deserves success.

Ladybower Reservoir Woods, Jetty & Beach. There was a lot of heather but it was best seen on the way home. We were prepared for rain on our day out….sun shone all day. Aug 2014……Just incase you were wondering the dogs were drinking water from minute holes on the jetty…..They yapped in the pub & it was a bit hectic…..Sorry no pics of the beer…….

Ah wait! We have some squash. One bench in the woods. Move up

Last word Ashby’s Rest (His little legs no match for giant Labradors!)

Ladybower and Bamford - my old home ground! We used to live up in Lodge Moor a few miles to the East and often went there. When the dam is low you can see the old bridge of the village that was drowned when the dam was built. It brought on a real wave of nostalgia - thank you!

That looks like beautifull water for still water fly fishing! Are there trout in these waters?

Don't recall seeing fishermen there. Its a reservoir for drinking water for Sheffield and district.

The Community saved the pub & post office about 8 months ago. Bamford had a land slip some time ago & everything is fine now, The whole area is very well looked after. There might be areas gated off but I have never seen any fishing. The odd flypast....

No one has seen anyone fishing on those waters? Just wondering since they call it the" Anglers Rest".

The River Derwent meanders through the village and people will fish in it. Ladybower is a massive reservoir nearby for drinking water & walking around. Having said that kids n dogs can paddle as you can see!

It looks a super place Bill. If I recall correctly, my OH and myself have been to Ladybower, but it must be so long ago I can't really remember much about it. Perhaps we should rectify that. Thanks for the pics and helping me to remember a little.
