LIVERPOOL

Liverpool on a sunny Sunday …lovely:o) First time home for years, quite emotional really. Grandson needed passport in a hurry as there was a mixup and Sunday was the day before he was heading for Holland with his football team. He’s home now and Holland is ‘class’ lol:o)
We had no idea when we arrived, but between the 24th and 28th of May, Liverpool was commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Battle of The Atlantic so lots of representatives of the armed services around. Good job Bloomer wasn’t there:o)) It was lovely seeing the old buildings again and I thought you might like to see some and the improvements to the Pier Head.
We’ve parked the car and, after finding the Passport office, we’re heading for the Pier Head.

Nearly there.

Here we are. The Liver building:o))

Large crowds there by the time we left for the Passport Office again. Then we were off to the shops to buy Stevie’s ‘urgent’ last minute shorts etc.

Everyone had to have a stroke of the police horses, yes, me too:o))

Who he???:o)

Magical Mystery Tour:
Everything had gone very smoothly, we arrived in Liverpool with time to spare, the weather was fantastic, everyone was lovely …..what could possibly go wrong?
On the way out from the town centre, we got into the wrong lane and ended up going through the Mersey Tunnel lol. So there we were, over the water on the Wirral, everyone fishing for change for the toll. The girl in the booth recommended going round by the motorway. After driving for miles with no idea where we were, we turned around and headed back to the tunnel. There was at least an hours delay on the M6 by the time we reached it. Heigh ho ….:o)

This Photgraph was among those in the Museum of Liverpool. I thought you might like to see it, I loved it, it’s called THE DEFIANT GARDENER :o))

It would have been lovely to have been able to spend more time here, we only managed to visit the Museum of Liverpool, so missed much. I hope to go back again one day:o)

What a lovely Rowan outside the Defiant gardener's cottage. They're great trees for small spaces...like space rockets!!!!!
Lovely clear pictures! I only remember seeing the Liver buildin(of these pictures) when I was up there back in 76!
Other than that visit it was just one day trips on the "soccer special " trains to go to Anfield so didn't see any of Liverpool on those rips!!
Lovely tour, thanks!

This brings many happy memories for me - your photos are great. I was born in Wallasey across the River mersey. I have travelled through the tunnel many times.
I now live in Lincolnshire.

I don't know it at all, thanks for the guided tour Ba.

Oh did Liverpool have a flower festival ?, years ago when they were wanting to redevelop the dock area, we went to that.

Yes Pam, the first ever International Garden Festival was held in Liverpool in 1984. I went with a friend, can't remember much about it now. I think it was the brainchild of Michael Heseltine. Apparently, some of the site which hasn't been used for housing has been restored: .... according to Wiki
Two restored pagodas in the oriental gardens
The restored Moon Wall
New lakes, waterways and waterfalls
New pedestrian access point linking to the promenade
New secure parking area
Something else to see if you visit again:-))
