PROGRESS IN FRONT GARDEN AT LAST

Today’s the first day I’ve been able to garden since borrowing a pick axe. Saga so far: Men who did front garden last year set the circle approx a foot/30cm (down wiv the kids) off centre. When they had to move it, they left the base where the circle had been and just covered it with soil. I had planted lavender Little Lady on one side of the circle, after digging small trench and filling with gravel, but the other side was impossible.

This is what I found when attempting to dig gravel trench on the other side.

After borrrowing this “gentle persuasion appliance” I have managed to plant out on the other side. I never noticed the writing on the handle until today lol:)

Still more to do, but front bed’s starting to look a bit better

Just to show what an amazing gardener I am….I’ve managed to persuaded a buddleia to grow on the roof of the porch, bet you couldn’t do that. Can you see it?:<)

I can see the Buddleia, but wow what hard work that was, and you have made a good job of it, it all looks great.

That looks really good Ba, I like the design, bit of a b----er those workmen doing that though, I`d have liked to see you wielding the pickaxe, if that had happened to me I would have pretended it was them I was whacking, thoughts like that give one more strength, lol..
I spotted the buddleia its growing nicely but I guess it will have to go before it wrecks the roof...

Scottish, I was looking at those roof gardens at Chelsea and thought I'd give it a go lol:-)

Lincs, I wanted the man who did my back garden (makeover Trev) to do the front, but his wife was too ill so I got a company that advertises a lot. Oh well it's done now. I wonder just what the buddleia is growing in?:-)

Thanks Paul, I think I deserve a rest now lol:-)

very much so :))))))))

How annoying that they left the cement under the soil, but all sorted now. Buddleia manages to get everywhere.

Cool front garden, BA! Rather you than me swinging a pickaxe - I've never been good with one of those, and now I'd probably need surgery if I attempted using one...

15 Jul, 2012

Love the design of your front, Ba!! Well done, hope you're putting your feet up now and having a well-deserved tipple . . .

15 Jul, 2012

Good going you, its looking good. Poor of them to have left such a lot of cement behind.

Lol love the "gentle persuasion appliance", brilliant name for it.

It's looking good Ba......very attractive, it will be beautiful when the plants have got established. If you'd like some Sedum to go with your Buddleia, I'll get the step ladders out tomorrow and fish you a clump out of the guttering.....:0))

Jeez! hard work for you! well done..looking fab..cant see the Buddleia :)

15 Jul, 2012

Kfunsters, like Lincslass said, I thought of the men who left it behind when swinging the pick axe...:-)

That looks really lovely now B.A. Isn't it amazing what just appears from nowhere. This usually happens to me, but they are usually weeds that grow on roofs!

16 Jul, 2012

Bamboo, I cheat a little...it wasn't a full throttle swing, I was afraid of damaging the paving so had to be a little accurate with my poundings. Still...elbows and wrists a little tender today lol:-)

Hi Sheila, today it's pouring down again, so enforced rest:-)

16 Jul, 2012

Hi Sam, I'm feeling very smug today lol, it did give me a laugh when I noticed the writing:-)

16 Jul, 2012

Thanks Janey, very generous of you, but I think the buddleia prefers to be alone lol:-)

16 Jul, 2012

Thanks for the sympathy Pixi, I hope my neighbours can't see the buddleia either:-)

16 Jul, 2012

Thanks Rose, I think this sort of buddleia is a weed too, but don't tell it;-)

16 Jul, 2012

Good God, I'm surprised you have any feet left to put up!
I've seen you in action with a fork! Lol.
Very smart front garden BA :-)
Now do remember the blog of taking the Buddleia down, this I have got to see, Lol.

16 Jul, 2012

Taking the buddleia down??? Taking the buddleia down??? Willi are you mad!!! Do you know how hard it was to plant it there??? Will I ever be able to forget that fork?.... anyway I broke a spade trying to get the base out first before hitting on the brilliant idea of borrowing a pickaxe:-))

17 Jul, 2012

looks great BA, and whats your secret to growing Buddleia in the roof haha, maybe you can gentle remove and replant, they will grow anywhere :o)

17 Jul, 2012

Thanks Sandra, no idea how to reach it....I'll have to borrow a ladder lol. I hope the porch roof doesn't come off with it:-)

19 Jul, 2012

Hi BA, now when you put the house up for sale you can advertise it as a Buddleia with a house attached, just think of the number of viewings you`ll get.lol.
Can I just mention that if you had put down your own circle (like some of us do) you wouldn`t have needed any gentle persuasion.
Joking apart your doing a great job ~ it looks grand.

20 Jul, 2012

Lol Phyl, I don't like my porch and maybe, if my buddleia grows big enough, I'll need a new one:-)) How is that neighbour of yours by the way? I like how he builds porches:-))

21 Jul, 2012

Your garden is looking great BA ...and will look so colourful when all your flowers are out ... :-)

22 Jul, 2012
