JUNE GARDEN BLOG

Just some pics showing best part of my garden now.
I’m not sure which clem this is, it has quite a small flower and has been blooming for a few weeks. It looks rather dull when it first opens, but keeps on improving. Anyone any ideas?

Close up, charming isn’t it?

Here’s Rosa Happy Days, coming on now.

Little quarry tile patio

Here’s Mortimer Sackler on small circle patio, he’s been knocked about a bit, but coming on now.

Deutzia Strawberry Fields, also knocked about by horrendous weather and almost lying down, still pretty though.

This is the only tallish shrub in this border that doesn’t seem harmed by the rain and the wind. Colutea Arborescens.

Towards house.

The President. He has some mildew this year, no idea why, but still putting on a show.

I have eagerly been awaiting the opening of this peony and today, in the sun, it happened.

Oh no…the same thing happened last year, no idea what causes it…It might have to go:(

The amazing Geum Totally Tangerine, even the seed heads are pretty, but it’s infertile, hence long flowering season.

This may be a new one to some of you, Geranium Praetense Summer Skies.

Always reminds me of fairy hats:)

I’ve lots more pics, but don’t want to bore you and parts of my little garden are a bit more untidy lol:)

your garden is so very pretty, beautiful plants BA, do you get chance to sit out there often cos it looks very inviting.

25 Jun, 2012

Not really Sticki, I take a constitutional each day around all 30 odd feet of it if the weather allows:-)

25 Jun, 2012

you dont sit out there???? can you see it easily from all your windows?

25 Jun, 2012

It's all absolutely stunning BA! I'm looking on my phone at the moment but will be back for a better look on the laptop tomorrow. Gorgeous :)). Thanks for sharing.
Re paeony....I noticed this year that there were a couple (only a couple) of ants on a couple of buds. The flowers haven't been perfect. Could the same have happened to yours? I'm going to keep my eye out early enough next year for them!

25 Jun, 2012

Ps what is the shrub you have growing as a standard in picture 3. I'd like to attempt something and am looking for ideas of shrubs to use

25 Jun, 2012

Fantastic selection there

25 Jun, 2012

What a gorgeous garden and don't imagine that any of us could get bored looking at more photos!! Must admit I'm not one for sitting in the garden - much more interesting to be pottering around but then again I've got limited space and limited time to enjoy and there's always something that needs tended to :-)

25 Jun, 2012

Fantastic, and not in the slightest boring, what a gorgeous mix of colour, height and texture, have been over the pics twice already x

25 Jun, 2012

Mortimer Sackler was an American Physician, wasnt he?....Dont know why i mentioned that lol...You have some beautiful plants Ba...LOVE the lilac Geranium & orange Geum and Alstromeria....:>)

25 Jun, 2012

Beautiful garden!!!

25 Jun, 2012

Pretty clem BA, Im sure someone will know which one it is, looks very distinctive.
Can we have a close up of Happy Days please? x
Love Strawberry Fields, we saw one at a garden we went to today & I Loved it as much as the bees. I have one I got from the £1 shop last year & its doing well, should have some nice flowers next year but its white, I love the pink.
Tot Tang looking good :-)
I want that Geranium as well, Summer Skys, its beautiful.
Dont believe you've got untidy parts in your garden! Lol.

Beautiful garden and beautiful plants..

25 Jun, 2012

Absolutely gorgeous!!

25 Jun, 2012

You have some stunning combinations there, BA. The Deutzia's gorgeous and I spotted a vibrant pink clematis peeping through. Like Moti, I love the alstro and geum. I have geum rivale marmalade, which similarly flowers for ages so I guess maybe that is sterile too - not something I knew before; love it when I learn something new. Like you, I assign genders to my plants, sometimes indicated by the name, sometimes just a gut feeling. Also thank you for identifying one of my hardy geraniums there. After seeing your pics, am pretty sure it's the same one! Bought it cheaply as an unnamed variety somewhere.

What a lovely garden you have Ba.

25 Jun, 2012

What a lovely garden you have Ba. So colourful, and your clematis and roses are fabulous.

25 Jun, 2012

It's very pretty ... Love ye clems .... Stuning

25 Jun, 2012

Absolutely beautiful BA, I have a similar clematis saved in my faves on here and that is Montana Marjorie, it does look similar to this, see what you think? Also what is the plant you have in the 6th pic in the foreground, that looks pretty :))

25 Jun, 2012

What a beautiful garden you have there..really lovely :)

25 Jun, 2012

Gorgeous garden. Love the geum and the geranium. My tree peony and Deutzia flowered ages ago.
I often say, right I'm just going to sit in the garden and enjoy it, but do I? No. I always spot something and set to work!

26 Jun, 2012

What a pretty garden you have . I think I may have this same clematis , but it has been eaten quite badly by snails and is quite contorted. I love that new geranium you have. Did you get it from the show, B.A.

26 Jun, 2012

Beautiful garden and interesting plants :o)

26 Jun, 2012

Sticki I can see it from the two rooms at the back of our house, lounge and kitchen:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Scottish, you're very kind. I bought this flippin peony as I loved the contrast between the stamens and the pure white flower lol. The lollipop tree is a holly Golden King. It was rather large and took up too much space so I chopped off everything below a certain height...and it's worked:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Sheila:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Julier for your generous comments (keep having to think of different adjectives lol) I think making a garden is a bit like painting a picture, there's always bits you have to alter and fiddle with:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Hi Magna, thanks for your lovely comments:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Hi Motinot, I didn't know about his being an American physician, but I read somewhere that his wife was allowed to name the rose after bidding the highest in a 'name the rose' type auction. I would have called it something prettier I think, but loads of roses have boring or inappropriate names don't they. One of the beautiful Austin roses, with the loveliest of perfumes, is Jude The Obscure...such a depressing book with a gory ending. I'd forbid them being given peoples names lol:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Booboo:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Yoohoo Willi \0/ I'll try and get close up of Happy Days on here for you, it was from Apluldram Roses (online) I find their prices reasonable and the plants healthy. As to untidy bits...would I lie to you? Well not about that anyway:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks michaella and Sheila:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Glad to be of service Tuesday:-) The peeping clematis is climbing through the deutzias neighbour, the Colutea. It's Little Duckling/Piluu hope I've got the name right, doesn't look right now I look at it, a great bargain from Morrisons:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Grandmage and Cinders, they're all starting to pick up now after that awful weather, hope your are too:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Cristina, I've bought loads since being on this site:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Daylily for the i.d I'll google it. The plant in the foreground is Photinia Davidiana Palette. It's been in many years now and I just chop it to keep it to size. When I bought it it was call Stransvaesia Palette...can't keep up with all these changes of name:-)

26 Jun, 2012

You`ve definitely got greenfingers BA, the planting goes together a treat, and I think I just have to have that
geum `totally tangerine`.

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Pixi:-) Diggin isn't it funny...I've made 3 sitting areas in here and hardly ever sit in them:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Hi Rose, shame about your clem....have you tried nemotodes for your snails? The geranium was from one of the big mail companies and was the only correct one...the others were awful weedy things and had to go. It's very disappointing when that happens isn't it? I won't use any of these companies now:-)

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Hywel...not as nice over my fence as yours...only more houses:-)

26 Jun, 2012

\0/ right back at ya BA :-)

26 Jun, 2012

Lovely garden BA I like that little tiled seating area, nice for a morning Cuppa. The purple Clematis is gorgeous and I do love the lilac Geranium and the Geum, not forgetting the beautiful White Peony and those fab Heucheras, thanks for the look around most enjoyable;0)_

26 Jun, 2012

Thanks Carole, I'm afraid the quarry tiles need a good cleaning after all this rain...it makes them a bit slimey and discoloured:-)

27 Jun, 2012

Willi \0/ yoohoo...I've put a close up pic of R.Happy Days on for you, but not on this blog:-)

27 Jun, 2012

Thanks BA \0/\0/\0/, She is beautiful.
Now can you move "Marmalade" a little to the right or buy another one to sit at "Happy Days" feet, Lol.
They look absolutly stunnig together, you are clever.

I now know why we get on well.... Im Aunt Sally & you are Worzel. As im sure you have two heads.
A sensible one for plant choosing & Garden design & A silly one for everything else you get up too! Ha Ha Ha x x x

27 Jun, 2012

Thanks for that info, BA , I will have to look into this.

27 Jun, 2012

Willi, I think I only have one head...and it's the silly one lol:-)

27 Jun, 2012

Stroller, I'm sure Tt will have to be split soon, it's massive. I'll give it a go late in the year:-)

27 Jun, 2012

Such a wonderful garden that I feel I know so well Ba..That little pink Clem also reminds me of Montana Broughton Star..Might be worth a google..
Lovely blog, and gorgeous photos as always my friend. \0/x

28 Jun, 2012

All lovely photos Ba, pretty combinations and very colourful. My 'Summer Skies' is looking good this year, no mildew for a change. It is such a pretty plant, fairy hats is a good description :o))))

29 Jun, 2012

Thanks for that suggestion Flori, I'll get round to googling today, doesn't look quite gardening weather to say the least:-)

29 Jun, 2012

That's funny Annella, in its first year I nearly threw it out...full of mildew. Then last year it was great and the same this year...so it's staying:-)

29 Jun, 2012

Mine was nearly a bin job last year :o)

29 Jun, 2012

BA what a stunning garden, love the planting, more photos
please. would not be bored at all, your mystery clem looks like our Clematis Montana Broughton Star?.

29 Jun, 2012

I think that rings a bell Dd, thanks. Does yours start off looking rather nondescript? :-)

30 Jun, 2012

It does.....

4 Jul, 2012

I looked at your pic of Clematis Marjorie Dotty and she looks like mine lol:-)

5 Jul, 2012

all looks so lovely BA, i had my first bloom on peony last year after having it 7 years, this year im still waiting but with bad weather i may have long wait lol

6 Jul, 2012

I've decided mine's going Sandra, as soon as the flowers opened, the inside started to brow and the petals dropped after about 2 days...just not worth it. I used to have Peony Bowl Of Beauty at my old house and that was in flower for some time, a lovely peony. Which one is yours?:-)
