THIS IS WHERE I GO EVERY DAY AND PRETEND I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY

This is where I go every day with the dogs. It’s lovely and I can pretend I live in the country :-)
This is a few minutes walk from where I live, nice to have your company. We go up Hobs Hole Lane, and we’re heading for the opening to the Stick & Wicket fields.
Hobs Hole Lane

We’re heading for that gap on the right at the top of the pic.

Looking back the way we’ve come.

Here is where the girls have a snack. For some reason, the grass here, growing amongst goose grass, archangel and celandine, is as caviar to the gourmet doggy palette!

Look of bliss on Rosie’s face as she chews the ‘grass of delight’:-)

This is where we’re going.

We don’t go round the bend:-)

We take this path on the left, heading for the little hill.

A single honesty.

We’re heading for the hill, well it’s really a mound very sandy on top.

I love this trunk:-)

Top of mound and Rosie and Meg bottoms.

Footpath across a rape field leads back to Hobs Hole Lane.

Just beyond the trees is Druids Heath golf course (where I do all my networking for B.A. Everything Ltd)

We’re on the lower pitch (football) now looking back at the mound

We’re heading for a little gap in this bank of trees

through the gap onto another pitch (cricket and occasionally hockey) The line of trees you can see mark out the edge of a private garden.

It’s a massive private garden which, as you can see, borders the field.

I’ve asked them to swap, but they declined:-(

This is the way out onto Noddy Park Road.

Noddy Park road.

Looking back the way we’ve come up Noddy Park road.

On the main road now, some fine old buildings here. These are on the opposite side and converted to houses and apartments.

On our side is this lovely Georgian house. I think Noddy Park cul-de-sac was built in its original grounds.

Here it is from the front, as you’ve probably guessed, another house i’ve offered to swap for mine…ah well.

Nearly back where we started now.

Here we are at the start of Hobs Hole Lane again.

I have shown the Stick and Wicket on another blog when I hadn’t long been a GOYer, but as I do this walk every day I thought it time for another one. I hope you enjoy it too, I know I’ve made it a long one, but it only takes half an hour or so normally so hope you won’t be too bored, thanks for the company:-)

2 May, 2012

Yes, I did enjoy coming with you Ba, and pretending(?) - if this is a few minutes walk from where you live, I reckon you DO live in the country! Glad you had a sunny day too, and love the names . . . Noddy Park and Hobs Hole. :)

2 May, 2012

Lovely walk... thanks for the tour :o)

2 May, 2012

Hi Pixi, thanks for the company, there is a semi detached cottage on the main road, facing Noddy Park Road, called Noddy Cottage and they have a stained glass Noddy panel in the front door...cute:-)

2 May, 2012

Sheila, Aldridge was once a lovely village, and people here still refer to 'the village', but it's really built up. We live on a small estate in a cul de sac, very quiet. There are still some lovely old parts here and we're very lucky to have quite a bit of open space nearby:-)

2 May, 2012

Thanks Terra, you could have brought the boys with you, what a pity we never thought of it:-))

2 May, 2012

I do that BA. Even though I am a 10 minute walk into the very centre of Manchester, there ar three walks I can easily reach and pretend I am on a country estate..if I try:)

2 May, 2012

Hi Pimp:-) (still sounds wrong) sometimes I think it's a chore taking the girls out, but once I get here I'm so glad I had to, and dreaming costs nothing:-)

2 May, 2012

That was a great way to spend a few mins with you, I feel rejuvanated and yet I`m in my chair, lol, that is a grand walk and so close for you, I live on the edge of town so the countryside is only 5mins away, also we have a meadow and old railway line to wander so my boys can have freedom for a while without the worry of traffic.
Thankyou Ba for showing a bit of where you live....

2 May, 2012

It looks like a lovely walk Ba, the names all made me smile.

2 May, 2012

What a lovely blog BA, great photos and I loved your commentary; it looks so pretty, how lovely to live near all those beautiful views.

thank you for taking us on your walk, i think its a great idea for a blog!!!

2 May, 2012

Really enjoyed that Ba.....some lovely scenery there and such quaint names, nice to go somewhere different...:))

2 May, 2012

Lincslass, lovely to have you on the walk with us, you could have brought Brynner and Morgan too. We would have made a nice little pack, love Rosie and Meg x
It's lovely when you can forget about traffic isn't it and the dogs can have a bit of freedom. We also have a small wood nearby, but it's not so safe:-)

2 May, 2012

Its great when you can go a wandering thru country lanes, I find it blows the blues away. We have a lovely bluebell wood 5/6mins walk away but sad to say I haven`t made it yet this year, just waiting for a decent day of sunshine.

2 May, 2012

great walk BA, so enjoyed it, love the rape fields so colourfull and bright, i use rape seed oil now rather than olive oil, its as good for you but half the fat etc,
wonder why the dogs love that grass so much :o))

2 May, 2012

Lovely walk BA, like Sheilabub said you are in the country. Love the names round your way :-) & some nice houses too. Would'nt want too bigger house though, too much housework, just a big garden please!

2 May, 2012

I heard about that the other day San, think I might change to rape seed oil.

2 May, 2012

it tastes ok, infact i cant tell the difference when i cook ;o)

2 May, 2012

When you buy vegetable oil, it's rape apparently. I always use it for cooking as it's fairly tasteless, but love olive oil too:-) Going to answer all comments now:-)

2 May, 2012

Lovely walk BA, feel quite tied now ....O)

2 May, 2012

Annella, I think there must have been some weird magic around here at one time...what with Hobs (devil) Hole and Druids Heath, mot sure where Noddy fits in though:-)

2 May, 2012

Thanks Sticki...lovely to have you along, hope it didn't tire you:-)

2 May, 2012

Thanks Janey, we must do it again sometime:-)

2 May, 2012

Enjoyed the walk BA, and it seemed to me like you do live in the country. This is lovely having this on your doorstep. I love the quaint names.

2 May, 2012

Our little wood is only a short walk away too Stroller, I must go soon. Anyway, this is a much nicer walk, the wood's along a heavy traffic road, glad you came:-)

2 May, 2012

Sandra, it's a mystery to me lol, just looks like any other grass. The rape is a lovely sunshine yellow isn't it, but strangely it's hard to buy british rape seed oil although it's everywhere...another mystery;-)

2 May, 2012

Willi, you do housework? I have to do some if anyone's coming, but that's about it lol:-)

2 May, 2012

Glad you could make it Stripes, put your feet up now:-)

2 May, 2012

Thanks Rose, there were so many of us on this walk it was almost a march! I'd love to know how all the names came about, if I ever find out I'll let you all know:-)

2 May, 2012

Shhh no I dont BA, not with 4 dogs ruling the roost but it sounds good :-)

2 May, 2012

I'm afraid anyone who comes here gets covered in hair:-(

2 May, 2012

Ha, Yeah dinners not the same unless I find a dog hair in it, Lol.

2 May, 2012

i could do without them in my bra though:-)

2 May, 2012

Oooh prickly!
Im always spitting cat hairs out when I go to bed, Esme will insist on sleeping on my pillow all day :-7

2 May, 2012

2 May, 2012

Not yet, looking for a big mug! Lol

2 May, 2012

2 May, 2012

Thats because Stevie was hogging the limelight!
We seem to be having the same conversation on 2 different blogs, its all very confusing, Lol.

2 May, 2012

i think we are doing really well and its exercise too remember ~ hopping from one to the other!!!

Ba is very good at hopping too!!!!!??????

stevie or lulu can have the limelight anyday ~ im happy to be giggling quietly in the corner!!!

2 May, 2012

2 May, 2012

oooooooooooooh WILLINILLI !!!!! so now i know who you believed!!!!!

WELL!!!! what can i say??????

2 May, 2012

Dont worry, Im sure the cake soaked it up!

2 May, 2012

i will never live this down will i??????????? stevie the T has a lot to answer for!!!!!!!!!

2 May, 2012

BA ~ where are you when i need your help ~ tell willinilli Im not like that!! i dont drink much at all.

2 May, 2012

Ah Bless ya, No Pimms for you at Malvern then!

2 May, 2012

probably need hot chocolate or mulled wine????

2 May, 2012

Hope not :-(
Must go & do a blog of my bluebell wood walk, just to prove I dont just sit around eating all day!

2 May, 2012

oooh i would love to see that please! must go to the bluebell woods near me to see if they are out.

2 May, 2012

I really enjoyed that walk Ba....:>)

2 May, 2012

Thanks Clarice and Motinot, we appear to have picked up a couple of ramblers lol:-) Oy you two Willi and Sticki...put that bottle down at once. They'll be ok when they sober up :-)

2 May, 2012

What a lovely area you live in,Ba..and like the others, love all the names..nice to be able to have somewhere for Rosie and Meg to run free..I like seeing where everyone lives...thanks for the walk,I needed that..:o)

3 May, 2012

hic!!!

3 May, 2012

No Pimms...Have I been banned?

3 May, 2012

Are you coming to Malvern too Pimp? Sticki bring lots of cake!....erm healthy ones:-) Bloomer I'm glad you came along to help keep those drunkards (Willi and Sticki) in line, I don't know what we'd have done without you. There are some lovely parts of Aldridge still, including a lovely ancient parish church, I'll take some pics of that too another day. There was a lot in the local papers some years ago when the new vicar wanted to get rid of the old pews and modernise the interior or something. Don't remember what happened though. It also has wonderful bells. Must have a look inside one day, the churchyard has some amazing old yews too. I won't invite the drunkards though:-)

3 May, 2012

no cake then

3 May, 2012

Oooops, never thought of that...you can come to see the church and welcome:-}

3 May, 2012

oh thank you kindly BA, cake coming up!!!

3 May, 2012

Thats it Sticki, hit em where it hurts!
Can I still come, just to keep Sticki in line? :-)

3 May, 2012

what shall we bring willinilli? cider cake?

3 May, 2012

Definitely not Sticki, haven't you learned your lesson? Willi, you can come if you behave yourself:-)

3 May, 2012

not coming now. probably going to rain or snow

3 May, 2012

What alovely walk right from your doorstep, the views are lovely no wonder your Doggies enjoy it, the Rape Seed fields look gorgeous, not had a walk like that for quite awhile when are we going again? lol

3 May, 2012

Im not allowed pansy ------ BA has banned me :-(

3 May, 2012

I loved Noddy books! :)

3 May, 2012

I think this might be named after Noddy Holder???

but i liked the noddy books, i loved his house ~ really wish i could build as easily as he did. just think pix we could have a multi-coloured shed in no time!!!
i loved burt monkey too!!

3 May, 2012

Lovely to be able to make that walk every day. It must be nice to live there

3 May, 2012

You want to walk Bruce for me Sticki..Then i can take some not wobbley pictures?

3 May, 2012

oh ok pimms, thats a deal ~ thank you for including me!!!

3 May, 2012

;)

3 May, 2012

Hi Carole, thanks for coming along, you are welcome to join me any day:-)

4 May, 2012

Hi Hywel, it's not quite the same as where you live lol, but we do have quite a lot of green space around Aldridge. We're also lucky here as the bus stop's just around the corner and I can walk to the local shops including Morrisons in just over 5 minutes too :-)

4 May, 2012

Sticki, I'm sure it's not named after Noddy Holder lol, but I will try to find out from Aldridge Historic Society:-)

4 May, 2012

I've been keeping my head down, showing that I can behave, Lol.
I think we should all go to Aldridge & go for a walk (wearing Noddy hats) Someone will have to give Pixi a shoulder carry as she doesn't like the dogs, Lol.

4 May, 2012

Pixi doesn't like dogs!!!...mad...I think I know the very person to make the Noddy hats Willi...ahem...you may not be aware Willi that I am the owner of B.A. textiles and if you wish to place an order for a large quantity of Noddy hats, I'm sure we will give you a most competitive price. I am moved by your largess. I think we will all cut quite a dash as we march up Hobs Hole Lane resplendent in our red Noddy hats. What a brilliant splash of colour they'll make against the golden rape. I'll inform the local press, we'll probably make front page! This will be a very proud day for me...for us all....for England...hurrah! I'll have to go and blow my nose...I'm quite overcome:-)

4 May, 2012

I looked it up Ba, it said that a Noddy was a simpleton or fool.......take lots of pics with the hats on Lol!!!!

4 May, 2012

sounds like a hobbit outing!!!

4 May, 2012

You're both coming! no way out of it, we need as many Noddys as possible and what better place to find them:-)

4 May, 2012

so i am allowed now ~ now that you want to make me look silly!!! oh sorry i mean sillier.

4 May, 2012

Of course you're allowed Sticki, who else is going to bring the cake?:-)

4 May, 2012

Are you knitting the hats Ba? Don't forget the bells so we don't get lost ;O)

4 May, 2012

noddy cake?

4 May, 2012

more like a warning bell i think annella!

btw BA ~ this is a great blog ~ thank you!!

4 May, 2012

Our great benefactor Willi has given B.A.Textiles a large order for Noddy hats Annella...so generous. Naturally there will be a bell on each hat, how could there not be? Have you ever seen a knitted Noddy hat Annella? Do you want us to look complete fools?!:-|

4 May, 2012

Just thought...are you at what you laughingly call work?:-)

4 May, 2012

Sticky, brilliant...a Noddy cake...yes please. You'll all be pleased to hear that HRH Prince Charles has asked permission to join us to represent his favourite character, likewise Martin Clunes. Should we put it to a vote? It's really snowballing isn't it...very exciting:-)

4 May, 2012

oh, :-(

i will try with the cake.

I would love Prince Harry to join in!!!

4 May, 2012

Who could Prince Harry be? are you mixing Noddy up with Biggles? :-)

4 May, 2012

Yes Ba I was at work.......BUT not now! Do you think the Noddy's would be better off tied together like in old times? The bells would be a warning that we were approaching. Is Noddy a Charles favourite and does that mean the 3 Degrees are coming too, he used to like them? Will he be bringing his mum cos I will have to go to New Look for an outfit....sorry so many questions but I like to be prepared.
Ps..It was also the name of an old card game, that might be more civilised.

4 May, 2012

You really must start planning BA, Date, Time, Accommodation, Pub Route! Lol.

4 May, 2012

Annella, who on earth could the Three Degrees be??? You're worse than Sticki. At least HRH and Martin Clunes have got into the spirit of things. Sticki thinks Noddy's best friend was Ginger (confused with Biggles?) The problem is I can't think which one has the biggest ears and we can't allow both to come..it would only be confusing. Now I think you too have gone a little astray. The Noddy we are being is the King of Noddy's, the one who's autobiography was written by Enid Blyton. I sometimes wonder if my entrepreneurial skills are wasted on you lot!:-)

5 May, 2012

Willi...at last the sweet voice of reason. You appear to be a woman of considerable talent. Now, I always got Tetrarch to organise our outings etc, she's very good at that sort of thing, but she's hors de combat at the moment and I'm looking for a temporary replacement...and you seem to fit the bill. In your last comment you seem to have all the important parts of the itinerary covered, so I'll leave it to you if that's ok? I'm sure Google map will be a great help to you. Ps Sticki's bringing a Noddy cake, but for some reason not keen on HRH...perhaps we should go with Martin clunes. What do you think?:-)

5 May, 2012

Ba if you dont write a book one of these days i shall be sorely disappointed!

at the very least you could write a column in a newspaper, failing that a blog a day please on here ~ you are brilliant!!!

there are some other characters who need to be sorted ~ shall i be Mrs Tubby Bear???

5 May, 2012

Do you know Sticki, I can't remember anyone except Big Ears and Noddy. Bloomer would blame it on my freckles. If there was a Mrs Tubby Bear, you don't make the grade I'm afraid, but carry on with the compliments;-)

5 May, 2012

why? im round and smiley.

Mr Plod
Bert Monkey ~ maybe that is more me.
Mr Tubby Bear [i think]

have to look the rest up, hold on..........

Tessie Bear
Bumpy Dog
Mr Wobbly Man
Master Tubby who is naughty

etc

5 May, 2012

Over to you Sticki, I can just tell you would be the best candidate for such an operation.
Silly Hats
Lots of Cake
Lots of Dogs
& A Wonderful Walk :-)

5 May, 2012

What's with the 'Willi...at last the sweet voice of reason' do you not remember the 3 Degrees Ba? When will I see you again and all that....didn't think you were that old or were you into punk rock? Lol!

5 May, 2012

Btw can we have the hats weatherproofed, it's not good out there

5 May, 2012

I remember 3 degrees Annella, Thats the max temp we've had since christmas! Lol.

5 May, 2012

Lol yes Willi.....I want to cry really, so very cold here today. Ba make that Thermal weatherproofed hats. I used to have a Noddy egg cup with a thermal hat to keep the egg warm.

5 May, 2012

With fog lights, Lol.

5 May, 2012

of course + Sat nav

5 May, 2012

how about some music to help us along?

noddy holder???????

5 May, 2012

So here it is Merry Xmas everybody's having fun......well it feels like xmas weather Sticki

5 May, 2012

Come on feel the noise....of Annella moaning about the weather!

5 May, 2012

this photo now has 108 comments!!!!! it takes 5 minutes to load!!!

sorry i cant think of any good titles, yours are excellent annella

5 May, 2012

That's ok Sticki "Coz I Luv You" Lol! Ba's obviously having a night off :o))))

5 May, 2012

did you ever watch spring watch when that one presenter [whose name i forget] managed to fit in about 20+ song titles from a particular band??

5 May, 2012

No Sticki, but I watched the one when a man had trained Starlings that flew back into a cage on his call....off the track but it fascinated me Lol!!

5 May, 2012

thats amazing.

i liked the one where mum squirrel taught babies how to jump off the roof!!

5 May, 2012

I've been to a gig:-) Everything was all right when I left you and now look what's happened...squirrels, starlings, song titles...I think you've all been drinking...or is that me? Why don't we leave the Noddy march 'til summer when we're sure of a hot, dry day? Willi, I leave the organisation in your capable hands:-)

5 May, 2012

i was just going to ask where you were, dont tell me you have been singing along with noddy holder

5 May, 2012

No Sticki, grandson Stevies first gig, that's why I'm home early. He's the drummer and a very good one, they have a lot of musical education at school:-)

5 May, 2012

i know BA ~ my son [also Stevie] is a drummer, he also teaches drums in schools and runs the concerts!!!

i just love watching him.

i really love the drums.

5 May, 2012

Just occurs to me
Your grandson Stevie, my son Stevie and Stevie the Terrible ~ all drummers!!!!

5 May, 2012

Last year when Boo organised that charity concert Pelsall Common, there were lots of such talented children from Stevie's school...absolutely amazing (Stevie wasn't in a band then) ....all we had was a recorder lol. I bet I could still play 'cuckoo' on one. I bet your Stevie finds his work in schools very rewarding, it's not like trying to teach children maths or anything they're not really interested in...drums are so cool:-)

5 May, 2012

absolutely, he always gets good feed backs ~ and zoe his wife [a music teacher] says its not fair.
its how they met!!!

5 May, 2012

At a school?:-)

5 May, 2012

yes steve was just starting teaching and zoe was the new music teacher.

5 May, 2012

How lovely, have you seen them lately?:-)

5 May, 2012

not recently enough, they are both so busy. last time was easter day, steve invited us over and my other son came too which was very nice.

5 May, 2012

:-)

6 May, 2012

Lol Snoop, does this mean your joining us on the Noddy march?:-)

6 May, 2012

you aint seen nuffin yet snoopdog!!!!

we have had blogs and photos of over 1000 comments long ~ we had to start them again ~ part two cos they wouldnt load very quickly!!!!!

6 May, 2012

Don't tell him that Sticki, you'll scare him away and I do love his bird pics:-)

6 May, 2012

yes they are great, i agree.

6 May, 2012

I'm still waiting for a reply about Charlie's mum coming. shopping or no shopping Ba? If he brings the wife I wont have to bother..

7 May, 2012

Annella...keep up. Sticki objects to the presence of HRH so you can forget his mum too. If he comes, she won't bring her Noddy cake:-(

7 May, 2012

That's fine I'd rather meet Sticki, she is Royalty on Goy x

7 May, 2012

Creep...you're just after her cake:-)

8 May, 2012

Hi BA...I really enjoyed our walk. Actually it has helped me because lately I have been finding it hard to leave the house on foot! I'm fine in my car, but I haven't had any of my long walks for ages. Seeing your walk reminded me that there is a similar walk not far from here which I think I could cope with and hopefully start to get back to my old walking self again. :)) Lovely little Terriers...their bottoms are so cute aren't they?! lol :)

8 May, 2012

Lovely walk, must be a pleasure to take the dogs out every day.. Love the picture of them feasting and loving it..

8 May, 2012

Hi Karen, thanks, have I missed something? you been ill? Glad to hear my walk has got you back on your feet, will you be joining out march? :-)

9 May, 2012

Thanks Bill, odd about the 'grass of delight' isn't it:-)

9 May, 2012

NoBA, I haven't been ill....just anxious. Don't worry, I'm fine. :))

9 May, 2012

That can be as bad Karen:-(

9 May, 2012

Thanks BA :))

9 May, 2012

hello walking people!!

annella what are you saying!!??????????? sorry i didnt reply straight away ~ i have been to london [to look at the queen] no actually i had to meet my sister there, she was getting her degree.

you really made me laugh

i really meant i would prefer Harry to come along [i know he doesnt quite fit the story] but he looks such fun!!!

9 May, 2012

Hello all, have you not sorted this guest list out yet!
I think anyone should be able to come so long as they abibe by the rules:
* Noddy Hat
* Walking Boots
* Dog (or borrow one of mine)
* Love of Cakes
* GSOH
Simples!

9 May, 2012

I think Harry fits the bill then Willi! Lets get Goy's special envoy on to it.....STICKI!!!!!!!!

9 May, 2012

I agree annella & he would probably love an excuse to get away from all the pomp this year.
Get writing Sticki :-)

9 May, 2012

I can see him in his Noddy hat....

9 May, 2012

Honourable Sir
We respectfully request your gracious presence on a walk that we can promise will be THE most memorable [for a variety of reasons] of your life.

can someone else add the next paragraph?

9 May, 2012

Yeah...
Sticki fancy's you!!!

9 May, 2012

We would have asked your father but his mother tagging along could have caused security problems and his wife meant some members dressing down for the day but we are happy to have you join us, and if I may comment personally I think the blue hat will compliment Your Royal Highness's hair colour perfectly...

9 May, 2012

what a lovely walk..excellent blog

13 May, 2012

Look, to save any problems, I've decided not to allow any royalty, an executive decision:-| See how firm I look:-)

Do you remember the silly stories we made up, oh the miles we went picking up GoY members here and there, it was real fun! Why did we stop? Did we get a ticking off?
I don't remember that bit, but I was younger then..:))

I'm still here ladies, we really did have some fun, few aggro bits along the way but never boring was it, I remember those days with fondness, I've noticed in the last few months that more people are still around than I'd actually thought.. ...

I've also looked at Floribundas' Summer What A Knockout, all about slugs and snails and you dear Sandra willing to sacrifice all, well nearly all, to be rid of the slugs. Lost In Somerset (Flori again) next on my list:-) Running out of books. Started reading Simon Brett Fethering Mysteries. Bit daft, but gentle like Agatha Christie and Raisin and you don't care about the murders:-)) Now, who can remember which was the blog where we all lived in a home for gentle elder folk? ( sorry no prizes) :-)
