So many friendly helpful people on site really getting some good advice .Hope you all getting my replies .As someone who has made a lot of mistakes hope I can share these under how NOT to do things.Like the time I had a mountain of garden waste that would not burn yes I know much greener now – but I was very green then , so soaked it in petrol to shift it. Oooh can feel those of you organic growers quivering at this but feel the need to confess so that I move on , become at peace with myself and perhaps be accepted by the goy community . Well tried to light it but all I heard was a whoosh sound that did not sound good decided somewhat quickly for me .
that should not stand over and should retreat to a safe distance at about 10 feet per second. An almighty bang ensued that reverberated around the neighbourhood and needless to say it didnt light, it did shift it however as it blew the lot into the neighbours.Forgive me .

Hahahahahaha be assured Bonkers you are not alone!! You should read Davids confession of when he set fire to a Eucalyptus stump!!
As for me I don't get near to flammable substances due to the fact that I'm married to a complete pyromaniac!! It's a stoning offence around here if you go near the incinerator, wood burning fire or BBQ!!!

Thank you Irish but bet you glad you dont live next door.Have found much greener way now most of my garden waste is now 60 feet above my head! Live next to a church and rookery small twigs ivy etc been cleared by them for nesting material. At present they re stripping the moss off the roof hows that for recycling?

You really gave me a giggle when I needed one - thank you!

The house next door to me was empty for a long time several years ago and I got in the habit of throwing snails over the fence. When I eventually got new neighbours, I had to break the habit. I now find if I throw the snails on to the flat garage roof, it encourages thrushes into the garden

When i lived in my Masonet that2was beside a grave yard which has a church there2&its the eldest church in Kings Lynn but sadly kids play on the old head stones & played football on the grass where head stones laid :( My Daughter was Christened there & Fathers Funneral there 2, Great Old Looking Church&Gardens @gate area 4 the Weddings :)

Sorry to hear that Jacque kids not giving it a thought rather than deliberate disrespect . In larger towns push headstones over and health and safety loons charge families with making them safe in case the louts hurt themselves.

I remember doing that to a Christmas tree in our back garden once. I recal the commando roll down the pathway to get myself clear of the gush of flame, won't be dousing any more trees in white spirit again then!!! Oh my eyebrows never grew back the same again!!

This helps Andrea or at least I think it does initially took comfort in the fact not alone and not the only daft one then got me wondering ? There such a thing as a garden terrorist - seems a few of us would qualify.Oh Andrea white spirit matches christmas tree not exactly santas little helper.
