Music to garden by ...?

Often as I garden certain songs run through my mind – well suppose something has to occupy the space – and wondered if other goy members have favourite gardening songs or music?

My top 3 would be :

1. Flowers in the rain – The Move
2. Daydream in blue – I Monster
3. Kiss from a Rose – Seal

Brilliant ideas of relevant songs. Must admit if i'm in the garden any song might pop into my head, probably not at all relevant to what i'm doing. If i'm working in the greenhouse though, i tend to have the radio on. Surprising how fast time goes in there, news comes on once every hour but feels like every 10 mins. or so.
Must admit SOME of the seventies music i do quite like:-)

'I Never Promised You A Rose Garden ' - apt with my not-so-green thumb!
'Where Have All The Flowers Gone?' - for when the weeds really take over!
'Who'll Stop the Rain?' - been appropriate this week..
'Baby It’s Cold Outside' - theme song for May in Ontario
"I Believe" - what keeps us growing...
"I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows..."

It's all your fault, BB, I sat up in bed last night with 'How many kinds of sweet flowers grow in an English country garden' going through my head! AND I can't remember who sang it OR many of the words! Big YEEEELL ...it's driving me mad!

Hi Bonkers,
We installed an outdoor sound system when we redesigned the garden in 2004.The outdoor waterproof speakers are always 'on the go' playing our favourite pieces and we also play Italian opera or classical pieces during our 'open days' for the National Gardens Scheme.
When Im gardening on my hands and knees Im sometimes accompanied by Shirly Bassey,( Theres nothing like a bit of 'Hey big spender' when you are arranging your bedding plants!)
Dusty Springfield and Michael Bublee also put in an appearance from time to time- now theres a thought!
Also, we can put the lighting on at night, relax with a good glass of wine and drift away.

Now then, folks of a certain age. If anyone else has had the problem I had with remembering the words of 'In an English Country Garden' then worry no more! I am about to post them as a blog! Then we can all sing together. Ready, 1...2...3... 'How many kinds etc etc.

I have random tunes pop into my head. I think it's a mixture of all the songs I've heard on the radio whilst waking up in the morning, all mixed together in a melody which seems to scare off birds and other small creatures. Dread to think what my neighbours think if/when they can hear me. I can not sing and will never admit to being able to but it's still a relaxing thing to do whilst pottering about, I love it. Sorry neighbours. Will have to sound proof the shed now.

Well, with a Wizard of Oz theme in the garden, I tend to whistle and sing "If I Only Had A Brain" - Scarecrow's song in the movie, especially the first few lines:-

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers,
Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while my thoughts were
busy hatchin' -
If I only had a brain.

It does mine in, I can tell you, but I do like the first 2 lines.
