Odd one out.?

By bloomer

Well,I have just been reading how you have all been so very busy in your gardens…Me?…done absolutely nothing in mine ! We decided to have a day out instead, and caught an early train to Ilkley,,(bah’t hat) if any of you are familiar with the song, and the dialect. We can travel anywhere in west yorkshire for 35p,single journey,so it cost us £1.40p return, for two, changing at Leeds, and our free bus ride to the station. We certainly know how to live it up:o)
On arrival,we had an early lunch, and then looked at all the garden displays in the town, which are lovely. The colour scheme,is mainly yellows and white, the latter being hyacinths. We then went down to the river, walking down one side, admiring all the houses, and their nice colourful gardens, over the bridge, and back into town .By this time ,we thought it was time for a cuppa,so found another nice cafe, and what a coincidence..we arrived as they were just starting with their afternoon cream teas,so we couldn’t possibly turn a blind eye, could we? mmmm,so good.Oh,well, time to catch the train home, and glad of a sit down, for a while ..was it all the walking,or the jam and cream scone,
that made me nod off on the Journey back? I don’t really care,as it was a lovely day out..:o) Sorry,I told a little fib, about doing nothing in the garden.I did put all my plants out before we went, watered and brought them in again, later. Now,what shall I do tomorrow?..Nothing,or something? Depends on the weather…Hope you have all had a good day, whatever you did….Sandra x

Glad you both had a lovely day, it does you good to get out and about, especially when a cream tea is involved ! I always think of Alan Titchmarsh when I hear of Ilkley ! I've gardened all afternoon, none tomorrow though as going to a Wildfowl and Wetlands place. Enjoy your day tomorrow, whatever you choose to do. : o)

Megan, Yes,Alan Titchmarsh was born there,so Ilkley is famous for more than just the song, its a lovely place, too.very traditional, and isn't a clone of everywhere else
you visit. All independant little shops to browse, and buy,if you have a deep pocket !!
Sanbaz You know the words, and you a Lancashire lass too.!!!
BB,thats exactly what we did:o)
Thanks,Lincslass,Louise,Holly,Spritz and Hywel....It was lovely.

sounds a great day! I travel around the country a fair bit now and always enjoy Yorkshire. I try to get meetings finished ASAP and spend the rest of the day bimbleing around garden centres and the like.
