Hi,everyone,
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas day,and were given the gardening gifts you were hoping for.I got 2 pairs of gardening gloves, and a Gardeners world magazine, with the calendar attached.I always get this,as the pictures are lovely. Some more nice things too,and our Daughter and her partner treated us to the Christmas day meal, which was totally unexpected,as well as some little gifts as well. This was a thank you for all the help we did for them in their new house. We were a bit emotional,as we didn’t expect it,and have just been glad to help.It was so thoughtful of them, and very much appreciated.Today, the sun is out, blue sky,and the snow is melting away slowly,so I managed to go on a tour of the garden,..it doesn’t take long in my small area. All seemed ok,till I shovelled my way to the coldframe…Not good…The sheer weight of the heavy frozen snow, has broken one of the lids completely, and some how buckled the aluminium frame beyond repair. The other lid is perfectly ok,so a bit strange.I wondered if an cat or dog had jumped over the fence on it.I have my spring cabbages in individual pots in there, and they have been doing well…don’t look so good today, but maybe they will survive.I probably should have closed the lid instead of leaving it open a notch for air,but the snow came so fast so quickly,I never gave it a thought.Oh,well, something on Santa’s list for next year?I have seen the snowdrops, crocus, and tete-a tete daffodils peeping through as well,so that was the positive side of the big snow melt down today.and the other nice thing we have done today,is pack a case,as we are going to Llandudno tomorrow on a 4 day twixmas coach trip.We have been on a few of these at this time of year as they are such good value.Hope you all enjoy the rest of the holiday, whatever you do……..Sandra.xxx

Shame about the cold frame , but you got some nice xmas gardening gifts. I usually buy the Gardenbers world December issue for the calendar but not this year as I have had a calendar made up with my photos of my own garden. I was really chuffed with it! It was FREE as well (just had to pay postage through Vista Print online) Also, my birthday is just before Xmas and the day before it(21st) a January edition of Gardeners World dropped through my letter box. My sister and brother in law had bought me a subscription for my birthday. What a great surprise!
