Forecast said there might be sleet on high ground,or maybe a little snow ! and this morning ???.our daughters view…roads been gridlocked once more, and her partner couldn’t get home from a night shift at work,so his company has arranged for him to stay at a nearby travel lodge,to at least get some sleep !

Our Garden…

The Goldfinches don’t seem too bothered :o) taken through the window,so not very clear ..you didn’t expect me to go outside did you ? not even for them ..Lol

Hopefully,it isn’t going to last very long,as it’s starting to thaw already..:o)

Sorry to hear you have snow again! I thought perhaps we had finished with it for this winter - but it seems not!

We have a strong, cold westerly wind this morning & an occasional shower of rain.

Sandra that just isn't fair is it? Lets hope its vanished quickly. This is the first year I remember seeing the really early daffodils flattened beyond recovery but happily the rest seem OK - so far so good...

So sorry you have more snow, Sandra, just when we thought things were improving. This winter is one of the nastiest I remember . . . freezing rain and fierce winds this morning! Ooops, the sun has just come out . . . what a treat to see a glimpse of blue sky . . . long may it last :)

8 Mar, 2018

It's horrible isn't it. Even for people who think it's pretty, they must be fed up with it by now. I hope it clears soon for you Sandra.

Thank you,Balcony,Stera,Sheila and Hywel..glad to report it has ended on a better note..the sun came out,and blue Sky as well. ! by 2pm,most of it had gone..seems the sun is sending some warmth out now it's March..always a positive sign, and very welcome it was too :o)..just a shame it caused so much disruption for the workers this morning..let's hope that was the last of it..xx

Oh that would really have p****d me right off! Thank goodness its gone. I went to Brechin today and on the way, there was one village with a five foot wall of snow standing at the side of the road!

8 Mar, 2018

Lol,I agree, and it did ! more so,because no one was expecting it,so they weren't prepared,as it all fell in a matter of two hours this morning,so many were already on their way to work..lame excuses from the weather forecaster this evening ,that they got it wrong..! OK,so no one is perfect, but ..... !

8 Mar, 2018

Oh no Sandra, I bet that was one sight you did not wish to see again so soon after the last lot!
Thank goodness it didn't last very long and I hope that from now on the roads will remain clear and your garden will be green not white!

my daughter is in leeds and she woke up to 3" of snow this am. we had very wet sleet for a couple of hours but it did settle.

8 Mar, 2018

It certainly wasn't Chris..I didn't expect that, when I drew back the curtains! anyway, apart from causing chaos ,luckily it was short lived..two little Tulips in flower didn't seem to mind :o)

9 Mar, 2018

I think it was most of W.Yorkshire,Eileen..and my daughters partner works in Keighley,so it was pretty widespread..at least he finally got home later in the day, after some much needed sleep after his nightshift :o(

Sandra, I can't put a 'Like' to this blog as there's far too much snow in it! That was good of the company to use a nearby Travel Lodge ... but let's hope it doesn't have to happen again any time soon.

Goldfinches seem to have deserted our garden now ... flown up to you by the looks of it!

9 Mar, 2018

What a blow! I saw Wales had their fair share too, so many power cuts.!! pleased it didn't last too long for you, it seems to have been a long winter, or is that just me?

9 Mar, 2018

Lol,Shirley..I didn't 'like' it either ..ha ha.The least they could do,really,as he had it bad enough the first time we had heavy snow..not their fault of course, but if they appreciate them trying ,so be it !
I wonder why your goldfinches have stopped coming,Shirley? we still have 6 that come hell or high water..can't keep up to the little devils :o) btw,I apologise for not replying to your PM yet,but I will soon..xx

It was a bit of a shock,Angela..only started at 5 am,apparently..and I looked out at 7.30 ! I do feel the same as you, that it has really dragged on and on this year..don't know why ,as it hasn't kept us indoors much..no gardening as such, only sparingly, but lunches out etc..no problem :o) x

Lovely sunshine yesterday; rain today. Mustn't grumble after reading all the above posts.

Older Son has been here for three days and has tidied up a lot of the messy areas in the garden. Makes such a difference. OH hates not being able to work.

9 Mar, 2018

I have to admit Sandra, when I pulled back the bedroom curtains on Thursday morning my response was 'oh, good grief! ' and to cap it all we had an early appointment that morning in Leeds for Richard's treatment. I'm just hoping that this is the last lot.

9 Mar, 2018

I hope its gone soon for you Sandra my daughter told me yesterday its started snowing again up there she is in Wyke.

9 Mar, 2018

You were very restrained,Julia..my response was a tad stronger than that ! Lol.Glad you made it to Leeds ok,eventually..what a journey it is, at the best of times...:o(

10 Mar, 2018

It only lasted till lunchtime,3d,and it was fine here all day yesterday, and quite mild,so we were able to go for a walk..:o).We go via Wyke,,if we go to Tong Garden Centre...

10 Mar, 2018

Well done on the lunches out Sandra, priorities right!!

10 Mar, 2018

I never turn down any offers of eating out,Angela..mind you,it's usually me that suggests it,but it's one thing we always agree on..:o) we have been out today, for a lovely Carvery,as an early Mother's Day treat from my Daughter.. Lol xx

10 Mar, 2018

lol Sandra my daughters husband was born in Tong so glad its turned out mild for you to go out for a walk. So you must live not far from Wyke then do you cut through Judy Woods ? such a beautiful place to go for a walk .

10 Mar, 2018

We live near the border between Yorkshire and Lancs,3d,so we have to drive there, and don't know Judy woods..I remember a long time ago,you mentioning your Daughter,I think, living at Berry Brow? when you were'Morgana ' :o) that isn't far from us,on the way to' The Last of the Summer' Wine country.....

10 Mar, 2018

Sandra, no worries about the PM, but could you send some of your Goldfinches down here please?!!

14 Mar, 2018

Sandra, still no Goldfinches, but this morning (another snowy one) there was a lone Greenfinch feasting on the Sunflower hearts so all is not lost! :o)

18 Mar, 2018

Great news,Shirley..ours are still here every day,and are especially stocking up today,in all this darned snow again ! Grrrr...Lucky you to have a Greenfinch,as I've never seen one here.It really is quite bad here, and started at teatime yesterday with Blizzards throughout the night...but I think I see a slight thaw ..:o)
