Rainy day Express...

Thats a lovely Pic bloomer, its hard to keep them amused for more than 5mins, we have been all over depending on the weather. Yesterday we went to Ikea, There's a free play area (supervised) so we booked them into there, then face painting. hotdogs and the little park beside the entrance, it filled a few hours and we shopped in peace, pouring down this morning so looks like soft play today, we just bought them new scooters and they are dying to try them, this weather gets you down man :))))

Thanks Ydd,can't you tell how bored I am? Lol..just thought I would try and raise a smile or two..yes,our Grandson..Thomas loves Ikea too..and it is hard to keep them occupied inside..but we manage ,one way or another :o)

Have you thought of showing Thomas how to make tunnels, station, houses etc out of cereal boxes and sticky back plastic.....then paint them with poster paints......people and animals out of playdough?

You need a groundsheet though to corral the mess!
(needless to say I,m a product of the blue peter age.....)

I know,Pam..one of those clever so and so's that won't use the level crossing! and the Postman Pat train almost got him :o).....some great ideas there ..but hoping we will be able to get out soon..cereal boxes in short supply.and no sticky back plastic,as yet..or a ground Sheet ..but I will bear it in mind ..cardboard inners from toilet rolls no longer allowed..health and safety ......

Is that because the little people on the train can get stuck in the tunnel. :0)

What a great photo - can't wait for grandchildren. My husband would love to come and play at your house, I suspect - me too, for that matter and I can provide the cereal boxes, glue, paint and groundsheet!

Smashing photo Sandra and they do look content, that looks like one of the sets my grandson had, you can keep adding bits to it, we used to have it spread all over the house and woe betide any human or animal who stepped across the lines in the wrong place, both Thomas and grandad look happy playing, I do miss those days (sigh) they went by so quickly so make the most of them....

LOL B. brilliant blog. We have that wooden train set too and Dylan builds his under the table and chairs and back out again!! You have to watch where you are walking. Have just had our lot for five days = exhausted now.:)

We have lots more tracking yet,Sue..but this was enough for his first time with it..another bargain from the second hand market..£8 with lots of trains too..we only buy new for Christmas and birthdays...some of the tracking is from Ikea,but it all fits with the other,which is great..still available from there too,so you can add to it...I can imagine how you miss these times with your Grandson..lots of lovely memories though :o)x

Thanks Carole..story of my life! and yours:o) He is going through a stage of 'can't fill him' at the moment! He had just had Chicken Casserole at Nursery,followed by 'Moo Cow' pudding..his description..:o) which we assumed might be Rice pudding,relating to the milk bit..but his mum told us later,it was Mousse (Moo se) ..so funny....and when Russell picked him up,he asked where his sandwich was,as we hadn't eaten..!:o) ..he had an apple instead,,then later,a milk lolly(non moo flavoured)..followed by a late afternoon snack of two malted milk biscuits ..plus he pinched half of mine..and a cup of tea...evening meal and a yoghurt..oh,and a couple of Polo mints...no wonder he is shooting up Lol...Well,you did ask ! :o) xx

There are some great programmes for little ones - will have to look out for these. Mine grew up on Rainbow, Postman Pat, Bertha and all the schools programmes, Auntie Mabel and Pippin, El Nombre and Megamaths to name but a few ... those were the days!

Mine grew up with.....er I can't remember Lol ! :-)any reminders .... They are 49 and 46. Can anyone remember The Shiny show? That was a fav.with our grandaughter, OH used to make "gold coins" for every qestion she answered correct... still finding them in odd places.... keep thinking I'm rich... I am in memories :-)

I wish little boys would like to have a doll's house as I love to play with them! Our two LOVE their train set too and adults are welcome to join in at any time if they wish!!

This has stirred some memories! :o) Mine grew up with Rosie and Jim,Rainbow ,with Floella Benjamin..and the lovely Bungle..Button Moon,and was it Playaway,with Brian Cant? I couldn't stand him ! .oh,and the Flumps..I used to call my daughter Pootle Flump:o) ..as a term of endearment,of course Lol...wasn't keen on The Clangers,either..and loathed Roland Rat with a passion.we .still have a mug with that face on ! It's not in the cupboard I might add.but in a box of memories in the loft,along with lots of other stuff we have been lumbered with :o(

Wildrose, me too. I loved Brian Cant - always a bit off the wall, but then, I am a bit strange too!! The one I couldn't stand was Pipkins with Hartley Hare and Pig and Topov the monkey, amongst others. The Pig sounded like Amy Turtle from Crossroads - say no more!
