Last week,as some of you know,we went to Derbyshire, with our good friends,Carole(Pansypotter),and her husband,Harry…and it all came about through GoY,after finding out two years ago,we lived very near to each other..so it all started from there, with several meetings for pub lunches etc :o)
We packed such a lot in to the 4 days,as the weather was wonderful…and so was the Hotel..everything just perfect..
This is where we stayed, just a short drive from Buxton..
Carole and Harry have been before,so it came highly recommended…

Our accommodation in the Courtyard building..

The gardens were also home to these placid Geese..along with free range hens..and quirky sculptures of onions ..placed there,to remind us there was a very steep drop behind them..:o)

These were in the adjoining field, and so cute..we went to look at them every day :o)

I hasten to add, they were not destined for the kitchen, but sold to breeders all over the country..they were so adorable..

We sat here in the lovely sunshine,on returning from our daily outings..very relaxing….

A magnificent fireplace in the lounge, where we spent our evenings chilling out, after a wonderful meal..

As you can see,we were very relaxed,as this settee was a lot more comfortable, than the ones by the fireplace ! :o)

We had a wonderful time,so much so,we are now all going on a cruise together in November …bring it on..! :o)

Careful Bloomer you are all in danger of becoming the Goys Gadabouts...
It looks a grand place, we`ve visited the area lots but sadly not this year, I love it around there, I do like your new friends in the grounds and glad to hear the geese were friendly, I`m always a bit wary of them, lol.
You do look comfy on the sofa and I don`t blame you, the ones near the fire do look a bit too straight-backed to relax on.
Lovely pics and glad you all enjoyed yourselves....

Lovely, so glad you all had a lovely time, it does look like a lovely place. Enjoyed the pics very much. I was away also, with friends or should I say relations, that I found last year on holiday. The ones that turned out to be related through our great grandparents. We went to Cumbria and the Lakes.

What lovely happy smiling faces you can tell you enjoy the company. I had to smile about the onions, do you do the crying when you see them or after you`ve fallen over the back of them.

Sounds brilliant Bloomer, a beautiful part of the world, I guess that the gardens there will be very different to here.....

13 Sep, 2012

It does sound good Pam,and Carole and I have already made plans to see the gardens in Madeira..the lads will just have to tag along, but I'm sure they won't mind :o)

13 Sep, 2012

13 Sep, 2012

It will when you get there and think of us in foggy november england........

13 Sep, 2012

Would I be so cruel,Pam ? ...yes! :o)

13 Sep, 2012

I've been to Madeira in November...

...are you doing a transatlantic crossing, by any chance???

Yay or nay...you have to take a "shoe allowance budget"!

I had a broken ankle at the time (seriously swollen and cast just off)...or I would have bought so many pairs of boots...!!!

Really! I mean it!!!

Anyway, I'm size 39...so...bear that in mind...

:))))))

13 Sep, 2012

What a lovely story, both of your pics have inspired me to go to Derbyshire,it's not so far away from me.

14 Sep, 2012

Transatlantic crossing,Karen ? we are all poor pensioners you know ! Lol..we are slumming it on a package with a well known travel company..flying from Tenerife and back...:o)..I will bear that in mind though..about the shoe allowance..I vary between 38/39 so if you meet me at Santa Cruz airport ?? I'll see what I can do ! :o))))

14 Sep, 2012

Thank you,T.babe...you would love it there,I'm sure..and I agree,you aren't too far away..only an hour for us,so very convenient :o)

14 Sep, 2012

Are you taking a big trunk on the cruise Bloomer? I wouldn't take up much room ...honest.... Lovely to see how much you all enjoyed yourselves, such a lovely place. I wonder who thought of the onions?:-)

14 Sep, 2012

If you put onions in Bloomers trunk she won't take you again....I know you get peckish Ba but really......biscuits would be better......

14 Sep, 2012

Now you're just being silly Pam, it just isn't logical for me to take those giant onions with me when I'm stowing away in Bloomers trunk. Are you coming too? it's a very big trunk:-)

14 Sep, 2012

I have invited you on Carole's blog,Ba..you and your onions..but please wrap them well,I don't want the Captain turning his nose up,as I waft past him in my finery! Lol.....Hopefully,they will be stuffed in your knitted Tankini..:o) ..I like your idea better Pam..I much prefer the smell of biscuits..you bringing some of your scones ? They have some lovely jam and clotted cream, for afternoon tea :o)

14 Sep, 2012

So pleased you enjoyed your short break with Harry and Carole ... funny how the comments towards the end of this blog include food and drink! ... :o)

17 Sep, 2012

Lol,Shirley..very strange,isn't it? glad you enjoyed it,thanks :o)

17 Sep, 2012
