Just thought I would take a few pics, before we go away for a week..just to see what changes there could be,when we come back…This is the front long border…

Wallflowers hanging on in there,,,‘Red Spangles’ Heuchera ,Bluebells, and yellow Welsh poppies ,with Euonymous in the background..

Cerastium,(snow in summer,) orange Welsh poppies,and Bergenia…

Last years bargain ..Photinia (red robin),putting lots of new growth on..and on the left, you can just see a small bud of the White Alliums I planted last autumn..

Another,‘Emerald and gold,’euonymous…I have five,all from cuttings..just love this plant :o)

and this is what I rigged up this morning…
It has been standing inside all winter,so as it’s too early to plant some things out yet,I decided to make a fleece cover ,for protection..so they will at least, get watered through it..I ‘borrowed’ a removable shelf from the other growhouse, which fits over the top of this one,so I could trap the fleece in between, and have weighted it ….

It’s facing north, and quite sheltered,so should be ok..although my kind neighbour is going to check on them….sigh of relief..I won’t be worrying about them now.:o)

all that remains to do now,is sort out what is going to be done with all the Fuchsias in the other one !..but I might do the same..lots of fleece left yet .:o)

your garden looks wonderful! Good diea with the fleece thing..hope there arent high winds..I had one of these..all secured down..weighted at the bottom wiht heavy pots etc etc..strong gust of wind ripped the whole thing to pieces and the heavy pots ended up in the pond! Pray for mild weather :)

Love the planting in the long border, Sandra ... do the Euonymous send out plain green leaves at all? ... One of mine has started doing that and I have been advised to cut them off ... I'm sure your plants in the growhouse will be fine with the TLC you have given them! ... Enjoy your holiday ... :o)

Oh Sandra I think we all fret at leaving our plants even when its for a holiday thats for our benefit, lol, you`ve made a good job with the fleece, I hope we can all put them away soon, it used to be just the watering to worry about, I can`t remember wrapping things up this late in May for a very long time. Your garden pics are lovely, lots of colour in your borders, hoping when you return they are basking in warm sunshine...
Have a good holiday Sandra, will be looking out for lots of nice pics, lol...

Your borders are looking beautiful Sandra, and your fleece cover that lets the rain in is mighty impressive. Cornwall is always lovely (No.2 son lives in Falmouth), so hopefully you will have some sunshine, and enjoy the walks and the cream teas!

Carole..the Wallflowers have been lovely this year, and still not looking tatty..and it is a big clump of Welsh poppies..I have let them be more promiscuous this year,:o)..The Heuchera is a very old variety, and had it for years,,I think there are some similar red ones now,and this is very hardy.

Thank you ,Sheilabub,,hope the fleece idea works ok..it is raining again now,so I will check when..if..it stops.I will know whether to think of a plan B or not ! Lol...We went to falmouth a couple of years ago,and really enjoyed it...loved St Mawes too....we are going to Newquay..haven't been for years, but if the weather is decent, there are some lovely walks there, and surrounding areas...so a good base...and it was a good deal :o)..oh,yes,the cream teas, overlooking the bay...

You do have a lot of colour there, its so much more further than mine. Enjoy your weeks break and come back with some good pics to show us.

18 May, 2012

Sad to think that you have to fleece plants this time of year isnt it B? Still better be safe...... have a lovely hol and hope the weather at least stays dry! When we were in Newquay a good few years ago we used to walk the whole length of the beach every evening, it was great. Will you be going to Eden? Enjoy the clotted cream!

18 May, 2012

Thank you,Stroller..it's not looking bad at all,so should be more colour when we get back...Just checked their local weather forecast..again..seems like it's changed...:o) some nice warm sunshine from Tuesday to Thursday..that will do nicely...not taking the scarf now ! :o))
...................
Thanks,G.mage..We had very heavy rain all through last night..so went out to check plants this morning..it's worked..! ..and filtered through to the plants on the bottom shelf, which are stood on Capillary matting....:o)
We are staying overlooking Tolcarne beach ,..so it should be nice..loved walking over the cliffs there....We aren't going to Eden, but been checking out local bus services,,so we will be out and about somewhere..:o)

Bloomer who's a clever girl then? I'm sure they'll be fine when you get back. This is a time you'll be glad of any rain you can get won't you, as long as it doesn't follow you to Cornwall.
