time for a look around this Biome now..It is very hot and humid in there,naturally..but the air being pumped in at the entrance, was like a gale..and didn’t do much good for anyone’s hair !..windswept look was the order of the day .Lol.
Onwards and upwards now.I must tell you,we didn’t go right to the top.Halfway is all we managed, because of the conditions. We saw a notice board,at this point, telling people it would get much hotter and humid, and if we were feeling uncomfortable,to turn back here..so we did..We were disappointed, but it was good they warned everyone. We don’t have breathing problems, but can see why they state this..We still got plenty pics,so that was ok..right,off we go..and looking upwards first to the roof..There is a viewing platform right at the top…a lovely sight,I’m sure..but it wasn’t working that day..so glad we didn’t go up there..

Banana,anyone ?

This makes you think about all the destruction around the Worlds Forests….a sobering thought indeed, but can’t see there will be much change…

This is such a lovely plant..

…and so is this…

This is when we turned back..so going into the grass covered Link, between the Biomes..it was time for a coffee. This area houses all the Amenities, shop, cafe ,information desks, etc.I have never been in a place where you get what you want to eat, from sandwiches,to buffet style tables, where you help yourself..eat it,and pay afterwards at a till ! How trusting is that? .They have the most wonderful bread from their own bakery ,of which you could sample on the way in..A lovely assistant made us a nice cuppa, and that hadn’t to be paid for till you finished either. They work on the premise, that the kind of people who visit, are usually very honest, and want to help keep this place going..as why would they pay £ 22 each for an adult entrance charge,in the first place ? I hope this is the case..but we saw lots at the many paypoints ,so it probably works..
Hope you enjoyed this 2nd part..and its off to the Mediterranean Biome now.and another blog soon..

Its grown up so much Bloomer, it was because of the crowds and heat thae we were reccomended to go early and as I said before its so much better if you can as you go at your own pace, I went right to the top which seemed cooler from the spray off the stream and i then I went down to my 'comfort level', If you go again try Heligan as well its also wonderful- being created by the same people-
the mediterranean bio was not really grown when I visited and if you went it will be interesting to see whats changed!

Glad you enjoyed it Carol.I liked the waterfall too..:o)

I can see the benefits of going early,Pam,but as we were staying in Babbacombe,it was 11am before we arrived, although we knew that, and this included trip was the reason we went. We didn't really want to stay in Cornwall,as much as we love it,and so much nearer,as we have visited the other places often,on the tours...Padstow,and St Ives, etc. Hopefully,we will visit Heligan another time..as its another'to do' on the list.:o))

Thanks Joanella..pleased you liked the Rainforest..hope you have written it down on your list already..and banana is on its way..it shoul be ripe when it arrives ! Lol.

I well remember walking around in there Bloomer, the spray coming at us and going up high as well, not sure if I could do it now because of my asthma.
Did Heligan as well, now that one I liked even more and its definitely on my list to go again..
Thanks, another very enjoyable blog..

Wow! It's only when you see the size of the people in your pics...that you realise the size of the biome! They're huge! Humidity like that can be difficult to get used to until you're there for a while, it makes me quite breathless! Loved the bananas! The 'honesty' restaurant is new to me, but it must work or they wouldn't make enough money to make it viable! Loved the last pic, showing the people on the bridge, they're tiny as ants compared to the big palms! Thanks Bloomer! Another lovely blog! Wellies still on, waiting for the Dahlias!...

Thank you,and glad you had some nice memories of it,Lincslass..I think it could be a problem being Asthmatic,in there, but so much more to see that is ok..and nice to know that Heligan sounds good too..we will get there one day..
I noticed that as well,Libet, but only on looking at the pics....we do look so tiny, don't we ?.We didn't eat in that Restaurant..big breakfast before we left..but had a naughty but lovely Cornish cream tea later in the day ! mmm.:o).Get rid of the wellies now,you need shorts, tee shirt and flip flops next time ..in the Med .:o))

looking forwards to it Bloomer you're reminding me all the time thanks.....:o)

Ok Pam..won't be long..got your suncream on ? Lol.

13 Aug, 2011

Kaftan and long sarong do? Legs are far too lumpy to let out, I'll scare small children! Rubbing the suncream in now! Bring it on! Lol!

Thanks for part 2, Sandra, I feel quite out of breath just looking at it! ..... Love the Snowbush foliage and the bananas and the irrigation ..... well, all of it really! ...... I'm amazed at how much is packed in there ..... :o)))

Can't be as bad as mine,Libet..just the opposite..bean pole legs ! wore some thin trousers ! ha ha..

glad you enjoyed it Shirley..I bet it looks so different from when you went..I agree about the Snowbush...beautiful ..wish we could have stayed in there longer, but if we ever go again,we will stay somewhere much nearer..maybe St Austell,as it's the nearest town..

Thanks San, a long way for you,I know..but really worth the effort..it's ok if you make it part of a holiday..even I wouldn't have gone all that way otherwise..

Thank you Paul..the waterfall was brilliant..sorry,a bit ignorant..what is crash bandicoot ? I need to know !! Lol.

I'm sure you will, one day Dd..if you can find the time away from your lovely garden, and all your hard work you do..I loved the Bananas too..so perfect..:o)

Lovely blog B. havnt things grown there & fast! We visited when the place was about two years old and I suspect that we wouldnt recognise it now. I must tell you that we did climb to the very top and I came over all un-necessary and had to sit down for ages then make my escape! I wouldnt do it again so you were very wise!

15 Aug, 2011

Thank you Grandmage..it seems a lot of you went in the early days...probably I would have gone to the top then,as well..older now,(sadly) but a lot wiser...sometimes! Lol.

I can see now why you are so entralled with this amazing project, like being in a tropical junglwe, its a pity the viewing station wasnt working must be even more fascinating from a birds eye view, great blog;0)
