We have just come back from a week’s holiday here, and thought you might like to take a look around, in the lovely warm sunshine. The small resort is called Cadanabbia, and about half way along this very big Lake. The scenery is lovely, and very green..although they have had little rain this year too,and the hot weather we had,is not typical for mid May..we were glad of that ! Although it got hotter as the week went on,..90 degrees the last two days..a bit too hot for walking around,so we just had to chill out with a drink,,or two, around the pool .Lol..That was so hard! :o) I am going to do blogs and pics on each place we visited, around the Lake,as it would take too long on just one..I don’t want you to get aching feet.!
Here goes then..Firstly,around our area..with its wonderful trees,Villas and gardens.

I love the bark on these trees..

This is called Villa Carlotti, which is open to the public, but we didn’t have time to visit,as so much else to see,but we could see some of the garden from the road.

A view of our hotel…

..and from our window. We didn’t pay extra for a lake view..as we saw it every day.!..but this was pleasant to look out on,in the morning.

So that was our resort, quite small, but a good base for exploring some of the other places on the lake.We used the excellent ferries to visit them,so will show you them on part 2.Hope you have enjoyed it so far.

this looks beautiful, im very tempted to go there one day ~ i have been to garda which i love. como seems to have more gardens around it ~ i think it was on the monty don series. you brought a few memories back ~ blue skies and warm sun!

28 May, 2011

Thanks Sticki, yes it was on the Monty don series. Some of the hotel guests were there especially to visit the different gardens..which would take a few ferry changes to get to them..but they made it! We were so lucky with the weather..and we really felt better, being out in the lovely fresh air and sunshine..We might give Garda a try one day,as heard some good reports..suppose it depends where you want to stay..and what you want to do..

28 May, 2011

i dont think garda has the gardens but in all other ways i would thoroughly recommend it. those very handy ferries will take you across the lake at any time so there is always something new to see.

Its beautiful Sandra, brings back memories of when I went two years ago. I stayed in a hotel just south of Malcesine. Lovely scenery, really enjoyed your photos.

28 May, 2011

is that the place that has a cable car to the top of the mountain cinderella?

28 May, 2011

I don't remember seeing that Sticki, have just found the literature, it was Brenzone between Garda & Malcesine.

28 May, 2011

Thats good to know Sticki,I will take a closer look at Garda..
Glad you enjoyed the pics Cinders, thank you.I will have a look at where you stayed as well..:o)

looks a gorgeous place Bloomer - love the pictures very much - the weather a fair bit warmer than here :D Glad it was nice for you :):):)

28 May, 2011

Thanks Paul..it was lovely, and a much needed break..We were a bit concerned when we heard about some flights being cancelled due to the ash cloud,as we were coming home the next day !.We were reassured we would get home ok,from the Airport in Milan, even if it meant by coach..not something we were looking forward to,but thank goodness all was well....:o)

28 May, 2011

Oh yes forgot about that - double glad for you then - look forward to all the pics of your holiday

28 May, 2011

sounds like you had a lovely time..Lovey pictures

28 May, 2011

we only just avoided the ash cloud ~ and the high winds which stopped the ferries ~ might have still been on Islay ~ actually i always hope that i might get delayed ~ lovely place.
i think Malcesine is on Lake Garda cinderella and you can catch a cable car to the top of Monte Baldo[?] where they serve the most marvellous lasagne!!
i think i did a blog about garda a while ago bloomer.

28 May, 2011

Lol,Paul..we were all secretly hoping we would be stranded at the hotel ! ..no such luck..:o).I will probably do the rest this coming week sometime, and thanks for showing an interest in seeing them..:o)
Thank you,Mad a.G.We had a lovely time, and always nice to visit somewhere different.
It didn't worry us too much Sticki..if it had happened going out there,it would have been a different story..! I will have a look at your blog, thanks ..

29 May, 2011

welcome home Dear friend, been thinking about you and Russel all week, wonderful to see the photos, nothing has changed since our visit there two years ago, hope you both had a fantastic time, you did the same walk as us, looking forward to your next set of pictures,

29 May, 2011

where did you fly into for como bloomer?

29 May, 2011

Thanks Louise..nice of you say you missed me :o).I will do another one soon....
Thank you Val,I bet you were wondering where we were at the time, and remembering the places you visited..There wasn't anywhere else to walk really, either one way or the other, with it being a small resort..but we spent evenings on that lovely open air terrace bar.,on the first floor..(we soon found the lift!.lol.).wonderful weather,so a nice change to sit out at night..:o).

We flew to Bergamo, outside Milan,Sticki..a lovely little airport..but the only drawback,is that you have a 2 hour drive to the resort.as it is an hours drive from the town of Como itself..which we visited on the local bus,one day...didn't rate that much,so didn't stay long..and it was too hot to walk around ,to be honest, although the Cathedral seemed to be popular, and there is a Funicular ,you can take to the top ..if you have a head for heights..which I haven't..!The views are said to be amazing though..

29 May, 2011

It looks a brill place and lovely weather. loved the photos and pleased you had a nice time lovely blog, nice to have you back.

29 May, 2011

How I envy all the lovely warm sunshine and beautiful scenery, looks a lovely place, we had beautiful scenery also but torrential showers and gale force winds lol more about that when we catch up, look forward to seeing more of the lovely places you visited;0)

29 May, 2011

Thank you Clarice..we had a great time..and glad you enjoyed it..:o)

Oh dear Carole..I thought about you all, when I saw the weather you were having on your holiday..sounds like your Lakes and Mountains holiday was not the same as ours..glad you liked it,thank you..

29 May, 2011

i think we flew to verona for lake garda?? first time we went we were picked up by the coach but the second time we got a taxi and it drove all along the lake to the north end ~ we realised later we could have caught the ferry across the lake up to Riva ~ starting the holiday on the ferry would have been quite nice i think. riva is a good place to stay. but my favourite was Limone.

29 May, 2011

We have only seen Sirmione on Lake Garda,Sticki, when we had a day trip to Verona, and then we went there afterwards..I think most of the flights go to Verona..we were staying at Lido de Jesolo at the time..Riva seems to be a popular place to stay,we know a few who have been there.I am going to check a few out,but don't think it will be for this year.

A very nice place to go for a hol. What country is it in ? or have I missed it lol.
Yes 90 is a bit too much but better than frost :o) It will be interesting to see your series of blogs - I'm looking forward to them :)

30 May, 2011

the northern part of italy hywel ~ its lovely ~ you would like it cos it has lakes and mountains
thats the place bloomer ~ Sirmione ~ the bottom end of the lake [sorry southern end!] but i have to confess of all that lovely lake the southern end is not my favourite ~ i think i like the backdrop of mountains which riva has. there is also a perfectly blue lake in walking distance [just] from riva ~ its called 'Lago di Tenno' ~ here is a link for a photo i found on the net but even this doesnt do it justice

Now this is where I'd like to be right now ... on a seat in the last pic would suit me fine! Pleased you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to some more 'blue-sky' blogs . . . .

30 May, 2011

Thanks Shirley..I would have willingly have sat with you..they did English style cream teas..!..but we were very good, and didn't try them .Lol.

30 May, 2011

Why on Earth would you want that on an Italian lakeside holiday? I'd have been disappointed if you had tried them ... lol!

30 May, 2011

Exactly,Shirley..but a lot of British people stay there,so they probably found a niche in the market..some don't like a change of diet :o)

30 May, 2011

Indeed, we've met a few like that on foreign holidays. Wot, no chips, comes to mind! : o ))

30 May, 2011

Thank goodness there were no burger bars,or other fast food stuff...not the image I would like to see..but I'm sure it will never happen there..

30 May, 2011

Sorry,Hywel,I missed you out..not intentional,I assure you..Thank you for your nice comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed it..I have made a start on my next one,but as it will be quite a long one..so much to see..I am doing it bit by bit,and saving it..I would be here all day otherwise..Lol.

30 May, 2011
