Visit to Lincolnshire

We had a lovely short break staying with our friends last week,at Mablethorpe and the weather was kind to us,so made it even better. We travelled a different route than normal,as we wanted to see how long it would take us to get to Doncaster (Robin Hood Airport) later this year,as never flown from there before, and surprisingly,it only took us 15 minutes longer than manic Manchester. The best thing was,we had noted there was a Garden centre almost on the doorstep, called Walker’s,so we just had to go in for coffee..:o))Some of you may already know this one,as I know quite a few members live in the area.It was really nice there,so here are a few pics. The first one is one of the residents, and very handsome too

I loved the Fuchsia in a basket display ,but sadly there was no label,so no idea of the variety, and didn’t have time to find out,as we needed to move on,after spending more time here than anticipated, but we were glad we stopped off here. Will do another blog and pics later on the rest of our visit

How is Mablethorpe Bloomer, when I was young we went for 2 weeks every year on steam train-- the whole family went aunt, uncles, cousins, gran...we'd have a chalet on the beach and us young ones would be on the sands all day -- every day-- lovely memories, I've not been back and hope it hasn't been too spoilt,
the garden centre does look nice where abouts is it?

That looks lovely Bloomer. Is that a real sheep? The double fuschia is beautiful. Its obvious that the Peacock knows he is handsome.
Glad you enjoyed it.

JSorry,Joanella and Mad,I forgot to say that the sheep wasn't real, but it was a very good replica.
It was nice Carole, and it does look very much like a rose arch, but it is Bourgainvillea..Isn't it gorgeous?
We will visit again,Lou,on the way back from the airport...afternoon tea maybe ? mmm.
I will bear that in mind about the cost of the Peacock feathers Shirley...and will grovel around to see if I can find any..Lol.
Mablethorpe hasn't changed at all as far as I can remember Pam..We had some happy holidays on that coast too,and always went there for a day.Never dreamt our best friends would retire there,so its nice to go back.

Bloomer it is a very nice garden centre you found I have been quite a few times. Try and get to see them in the spring when the Rhoddies are out, it is a fantastic sight, beds and beds of them and so many different colours, don't forget the camera it is a sight not to be missed. The colours are absolutely amazing.

I thought about you, when we were here,as I wondered if you had been.and as this time,we did travel via Gainsborough, and Market Rasen,a first for us,I did wonder if we passed your house,as you mentioned it in a previous blog..We really liked it there,so maybe we will go again,as its not too far for a day out. Thanks for the info,Olive..:o)

We visited Mablethorpe last week and found it was the same as I`d remembered from when our family were growing up, sadly we missed that GC but it does look well worth a visit. Lovely photo`s, had to pop back to have another look at the sheep,lol........

We may have passed each other in the street,Lincslass....It doesn't seem to change does it? except for a big Lidl store.Lol. The garden centre is actually in South Yorkshire near Doncaster, but it was enroute to Lincolnshire..well worth a visit though,if you are in the area..Have you ever been to the one at Brigg in Humberside,I think... that is nice too..You are like us,as we both live in big counties,so often its a long way to travel to get to these places.

How selfish of you not to have taken more pics, you need to get your priorities right my girl. How lucky to live near such a well laid out gc, are they very expensive? If not, you could visit you friends more often:-)
