We decided to have a day out to Harrogate, last Tuesday,to visit The Valley Gardens,as it is a long time since we were there. We were not disappointed,as it was even better than we remembered, and the weather was perfect. It is a Spa town, and very pretty. So,here we go….
This is the famous Betty’s tea room, where we start the journey. We didn’t go there,as it is very expensive,so armed with our M&S sandwiches, bought on the way to the gardens,(very nice too),off we went.

This is the pump room for the Spa waters, along with a visitor center

The Elgar Plaque and the start of the walk named in his name

!

The lovely tea room ,where we were able to buy drinks to take away, and we were certainly ready for our lunch,so sat overlooking the first summer bedding display ,which had just been planted up,by these two lovely ladies, who very kindly, gave us permission to take their Photo’s to
show you.As you will see, they have been very busy, taking out the old spring flowering plants, and the soil was newly prepared. They are the only 2 ladies on the team,so I had to include them…

Refreshed, and ready to continue..This is part of a new design for a New Zealand theme, and will eventually have species of plants based on this These wood carvings, from old trees are fantastic, especially, the Kiwi bird…

A bit further, was this magnificent monkey puzzle tree, and a close up of the top of it…

We have now arrived at the Orangery,a lovely old building and especially liked the old gnarled trunk of this Wisteria..

.The Gunnera’s are growing fast, but nowhere near their full potential yet !!.

We have reached the end of our lovely walk, hope i haven’t tired you all out Lol..

That was lovelyBloomer. I went there about 25 years ago when my grandchildren were small and spent most of the time chasing after them, so couldnt really appreciate it. Would love to go back and see it again with 'fresh eyes' so to speak. It looks gorgeous, thank you.

Thank you, girls.glad you enjoyed it,and pleased it brought back happy memories for some of you.
Lou...,I especially thought of you, when doing this,as I know you used to live there.
I can't remember seeing the Garrya Eliptica,as the columns seemed to be more Ivy clad.We didn't walk the full length of the Orangery,so it could have been further along...
Lincslass,and Karen...you would love it there,its well worth a visit,but a its a long way for you both....one day :o))

I would love to go there but its so far away from where I live. I absolutely loved the scupltures, they are amazing. M&S sandwiches are delicious by the way...lol! :o)
