Yesterday I called to see the lady who lives in the bungalow next door to my old cottage. ( I still call it my old cottage ). Her name is Diana and she was 93 years of age last month. She always enjoyed the garden, and still does so. When I called yesterday she had just come in from “tidying up the back” as she said. Her lawn is immaculate and the paths always look as if they have just been scrubbed. Not a weed survives in her garden.
When I lived in the cottage Diana and I would both be in our gardens just after dawn on a summer’s morning. “Morning’s the best time of day” she’d call to me, dressed in a scarf, big anorak and wellies !
I hope I will be fit enough to do the garden if I ever survive into my 90s.

Yes, Diana is a tonic. Sometimes she will have you in stitches with laughter when she relates the things she got up to in years gone by. I try to visit her as often as I can.

Me too Jacque, I miss both my Nans, although they've been gone for many years now. I think I get my love of the garden from one of them.

I wish I could get up in the morning, let alone at dawn!
I'm trying to get myself into gear to get my garden sorted. Have managed to get a couple of my baskets done. I did take some photos, but old fool that I am, I deleted them from my camera. Hoping for some sun tomorrow so that I can take some new ones!

At least you have a modern camera, mine is an old one with a film that you have to have developed.
And I only had this computer last year after my Dad died because no one else wanted it.
I still get up early but not quite at dawn now.
Looking forward to seeing your new photos.

I have a lovely lady in her 80s across the road - her garden is SO lovely - it is very long and very narrow, but she and her late husband divided it into lots of little compartments divided by hedges/trellises and archways - all with wonderful clematis - I love to see it! And last week I had the privilege of being able to show her round my garden for the first time - we nattered away about gardening like a couple of old chums - despite my being very much her junior by about 50 years!!!

I don't think age matters in gardening ( except that you get stiffer as you get older). I mean to be interested in it your age is not important. All generations have something to offer.
