Isn’t it funny how when one plans to do something, something else happens.
I had some topsoil delivered about 2 months ago but because of the bad weather I couldn’t do anything about it. Well it’s been dry for a few days and I asked my nephew – one of my brother’s boys, to help me bring it in. He’s in his 20s and a big strong lad. I was hoping to get his help this week before he goes back to the university on Saturday.
I’d arranged to fetch my helper early yesterday morning so that we’d have plenty of time. He lives 10 miles away. However, the first thing I noticed after I got up was Blodyn , my cat, was walking on 3 legs. She was holding the right back one up and not putting any weight on it.
Well that meant a trip to the vet before doing anything else didn’t it.. I’d taken her last week when I saw her limping but the vet couldn’t find anything wrong. He said she’s probably been in a fight and got bitten. He gave her 2 injections and she was fine until yesterday.
The vet (another vet this time ) said the same. – nothing to worry about. She had 2 more injections but now the time was going and I wanted to get on with that topsoil !
Well We got most of it in and I’ll show photos of it later on. But I was also able to clear another little patch of overgrown garden.
Just think of all that could have been done if we’d had some decent weather this summer. I feel as if it’s been such a waste of time.
Best wishes, Hywel.

Hello Hywel ~
Lots of people had to abandon planned jobs this year.
I was supposed to tidy my sheds but there weren't enough consecutive dry days.
I hope Blodyn gets better soon.

You're right of course Spritzhenry. It's easy to see what still hasn't been done but there are lots of successes aswell. And yes, I've made lots of friends on GOY. It makes you feel better when you think of the positive things.
Terratoonie maybe you'll have a chance to get your sheds done in the autumn, or next year lol.

You have achieved so much Hywel remember all the wonderful treasures you discovered only the other day, and how you managed to clear your border ready for next years planting! I agree there has been lots of frustration due to the dreadful August weather, but hopefully Autumn will be fine and we can all enjoy the lovely colours that are awaiting just around the corner.
I must say I am now looking forward to some crisp sunny days so I can enjoy some long walks with Polly and make up for time lost in the garden.
Hope Blodwyn is soon back to her normal self.

You've made amazing changes to your place in many ways Hywel. You built that wonderful porch for your fuschias, and now your top soil is in place. I did more planting today after I got home from the office than I've done for ages. Guess what it's been too hot here until this week, but now it's chilly I miss the nice weather. I guess we all have different weather conditions to adapt to and life would be boring if we didn't get "weather"! Look after yourself and Blodyn and your Mum.

It feels great to be able to get something done in the garden.

I'm just wasting time bracing myself to go out and dig. Poor Blodyn. Garf had a similar leg wound, but 'cured' it himself.

No - don't think that, Hywel! I have enjoyed your photos of your beautiful Fuchsia collection. We have to count our blessings, not 'wipe' the year off as a waste . Think of the successes you've had. Think of the friends you've made on GOY. Better now? Good. You achieved a lot yesterday. I hope the soil will soon ALL be safely gathered in (like the Harvest, lol). Also, love to Blodyn and healing to her paw. Henry says he knows all about limping!
