Selenochlamys ysbryda

Posted on 10 Jul, 2008 17 comments

When I read Amy’s blog and she mentioned a ghost sulg found in Cardiff I thought she was pulling my leg, and I wrote that i’d send the “ysbryd broga” ( ghost frog ) to eat it. – but it’s true !

They showed it on our Welsh news. There’s a species of slug that’s never been seen before and it’s been found in Cardiff and Caerphilly. It’s pure white and it eats earthworms.

This type of creature has only been seen in Turkey and Georgia and the species found here has never been identified so they’ve had to find a new name for it. They’ve called it Selenochlamys ysbryda ( ysbryd is Welsh for ghost )

The places where it’s been seen are about 60 – 70 miles from here but I hope it doesn’t spread west. They didn’t say what kills it.

If it spreads west it will come here first so yes I hope it will get run over aswell. I haven't heard about it recently so maybe it's not as bad as I thought at first.
